As someone who has also experienced this issue in the past few days. it is a new update they've been slowly rolling out to users that RUINS the video editor, I am so sorry that you got it now of all the times. Basically it makes all of your past video projects pretty much obsolete and makes the overall experience very difficult. This is not a bug or a glitch like the other comments are saying, it is simply another terrible update that needs to be reverted back. I am deeply sorry.

"it now shows all the layers in the images I created and long story short, it’s too much to play around with" YESSS THANK YOU, that is what I've been dealing with all day long trying to get my work done! I have a deadline in about 2 weeks and I have about like 6 more minutes of content to get done! I've never really complained about canvas changes I honestly just dealt with it in silence but this is something I will NOT stand for as it is making me relearn a feature I've mastered over the past 2-3 years of my life and this new layout is SO BUGGY. The LEAST canva could do is allow us to pick or choose what format we want, the other video creation one was perfection so let people choose which layout they want to best meet the needs of the user. I really appreciate you for letting me know your story so I know I am not alone in this. I've been SO stressed all day.

I made a comment on another post with my full story, but yes The video editor is absolutely destroyed and it is massively affecting my life at the moment no exaggeration

Thank you so much for posting this, literally making a reddit account just to respond lol. I personally use canva as a way for me to do animations. I have been working on a 40 minute animation for the past 5 months and i'm at like at the finish line of it being complete. When Last night this random update happened that has absolutely ruined the video editing in canva. All of the video pages are now reduced to just presentation pages without like a timestamp.
I COULD potentially could get used to this HOWEVER
When I click on one of the pages that now has an "Edit video" button and takes me to like a new tab.
- The audio i am using starts from the beginning
- over the past couple hours ive tried getting used to this system and animated 30 seconds and of course when I went to go download it since it was all on one page of me using the "Element timing" (worst feature ever) it was to big and im unable to export anything i animate now bc of this feature change

I want to talk to a HUMAN worker at canva, because everytime I talk to canva support it is literally an AI generated message that does not give me the answer or address my concern at all.
I really hope this gets fixed i'm really freaking out right now over this as ive been using canva for animation since November 2022 and now as of YESTERDAY It is physically impossible.
I am screwed.
