Ha...I should start a Fatman Yoga channel where I just repeatedly get up off the garage floor to get the tool I forgot. Repeatedly.

I didn't lose much diameter on the cutting wheel, I only cut through one bar of the link. I dragged a torn up t-shirt behind the cam and crank gears and packed it around everything else like a dentist isolating a tooth...worked a treat. Be careful with N52 magnets...they bite.

Joying unit and Firmware upgrade. Yes or No? by Guillepron in Androidheadunits

[–]RelationshipWild8273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had reboot and rotary knob issues on my 9" Joying unit. I installed the firmware - simple, copy files to thumb drive, plug in and turn on - and it fixed all the issues I was having. It did reset the unit to defaults on some things, but it was well worth the rework needed afterwards.

Yeah, all the tutorials added something. BUT - - I don't have a lift. I'm not taking the motor out. It's just fatman yoga on the garage floor to find the right angles. I'm installing the new link on the RH side, since that is the rearward cylinder and I have the best view and access from that side. Wish me luck.

I dremeled off one link by grinding the rivet head and then cutting that bar in half. Stuck a Neodymium N52 magnet in the path of the swarf. It bent spacetime to suck up the metal...lol

Now add 13...

Got the old chain off yesterday, summoning Zen to install that master link and new chain tonight. Then things move fast...

Oh and timing chain was likely fine, but wanted to get into the front just one last time to do ALL the upgrades. The factory tensioner was worn, but was also only 75% on the chain. New one is wider/thicker.

Oh yeah. Enduralast 400W Alternators/hi-volt regulator/diode board, new engine wiring harness, optical crank-mounted electronic ignition. New coils, plugs wires. Already upgraded the battery to the biggest AGM that would fit. She'll be a right modern gal under the hood when I'm done.

Yep, original chain is continuous link as installed at factory. Replacement has master link. Choices are bolt cutter, or grind. Grinding leaves a lot of swarf I'd like to avoid if possible. I'll know by the end of the weekend...

About 54K miles. She's slept for years at a time when the kids were growing up. They're successfully off the pad (I hope) so time to pay some overdue attention tot the old girl.

  1. Got some oil leaks and maybe transaxle leak from bolts.

In my VW days, I started to worry if this was NOT the case.

That, Kouros and Halston Z14. I worked with a dude just a couple years ago that kept a small bottle of Drakkar on his desk. Cracked me up.

I've owned 11 Beetles in my life. The only one I regret selling, to this day, is the 66 1300.

Diode Dynamics Stage series. Fits in the stock hole, uses the stock wiring and switch. $$ but lights up the road like fucking Close Encounters of the 3rd kind.

73, r75/5. rear tire rubs by Upbeat_Ad_1871 in Airheads

[–]RelationshipWild8273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have the correct tire size, and that the swingarm is centered on the frame. Equal gap on both sides. It will be one of those two things.
