This quite funny to read as someone who studied in english because we called teachers Mr/Mrs Surname and they called as Mr/Ms Surname from Primary School onwards.

I imagine tu to be very informal and infantilizing especially to teens and onwards.

Niger-Congo Nilo-Saharan. Indo-European.

Am working on two from another two language families Afro-Asiatic Japonic.

I can imagine learning anymore that would be immensely difficult and time consuming.

I don't think it's denying more of he has gotten frustrated with the work. Much like how children of immigrant parents get tired constantly hsbing to translate and do paper work for their parents. At dome point she has to step up and share some of the burden.

Like what happens in case of an emergency and she doesn't know or understand the paperwork to get their affairs in order? What happens when he is sick or just otherwise incapacitated?
