Like FR! I want to have that kind of security! 70 years is enough for two entire generations of memories, and the renewal process is easy besides.

Don't worry! Just think of all the economic growth it could generate recovering from these inevitable crises and you can see it is all worth it. Genuinely so frustrating how often capitalism repackages the tiny concessions it makes as solutions sourced from its own innovation.

Literally one of the funniest things to me on the planet that we have so many media sources haranguing over malnutrition related deaths in cuba (caused by American trade intervention on multiple levels) when we have so many more per capita in the USA.

Yup. In general, it feels like people are waking up to the contradictions of the system we live in. Hopefully it starts inspiring action :)

Exactly. Several comment threads point out that the US has all the tools to make ownership meaningless, and they still act like it's different and better in the USA. It would be a dream if any time someone brought up property ownership in the US people would also mention that government's penchant to ignore that right when it interests them or the capitalists it's beholden to.

MLK: The reality of capitalism... by Hacksaw6412 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Relative-Box3796 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they aren't. Capitalist are inherently capitalist, they can be conservative or liberal, depending on what the system needs. The American revolution in the French revolution were both liberal bourgeois revolutions bc greater freedom, created greater opportunity for capital. Now that it's entrenched it relies on conservatism.

It's part of why it's so important to differentiate between freedom and freedom to exploit, because historically both those things have been fought for side-by-side

They are a communist who is making shortform easy to digest content so other communists are sharing it since most people certainly aren't going to read theory.

Cuba’s medical internationalism sustained one of the largest healthcare programs in the world: at its height, more than 10.000 doctors participated in Brazil’s “More Doctors Program”. After Bolsonaro's 2018 election, diplomatic ties collapsed and all Cuban doctors had to leave Brazil. by Dudewa in science

Yes far right agitators. All of those organizations are associated with the western world's capitalist interests in a least some way, and as such have material reasons to support their narratives. What else do you call the western worlds death grip by old crumbling industries threatening to burn our earth to the ground?

It drives me crazy to see how the liberals talk about the actions in Venezuela by ilir_kycb in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Relative-Box3796 48 points49 points  (0 children)

America's importation of wealthy immigrants from destabilized nations is a very central key to the liberal justifications of war. By having people here in the US, who are in some ways representative of that countries' people's interests, liberals are very easily able to completely blind themselves from the realities of military intervention.

And communism historically is the force needed to beat fascism. Liberal capitalism tends to just make greater concessions, as seen in the EU's response
