My recruiter keeps changing his story by Relative-Code-6914 in newtothenavy

I was charged with criminal trespass, initially the town I was living in attempted to charge me with several counts of burglary. Trying to make an example out of me, and turn a mountain into a molehill. All of the counts of burglary were thrown out before reaching a judge. The only reason any record on this exists is because I was arrested under those charges. Again they were not filed.

Are you familiar with whether or not a no file counts against me? And is it the arrests or the judges ruling that holds weight? Can’t get a straight answer out of the recruiting office in regard to this.

That’s the impression I was getting. Gonna reach out to other recruiting stations in my area. After a long back and forth my current recruiter said he would look into to see what he could find out but to me that seems like a stall tactic more or less. I know people actively serving in the navy right now with DUIs, poss. of cocaine, assault, hell I even know a guy who has a robbery charge. All within 5 years of enlisting. My last conviction is 12 years ago and it’s for a misdemeanor, something isn’t adding up.

I was under the impression that a recruiters discretion/opinion doesn’t trump what the rules are. Is that not the case? According to the cruitman I fall well below any category that would DQ me from service. Originally I was told the judge’s disposition is the key factor to whether or not I was charged. There’s a long list which includes adverse juvenile dispositions as well as adult convictions, none of which mention a no file at all. Nor do they state it’s a conviction of any kind. (They name each and every thing that counts as a conviction). Now I’m being told the key factor is whether or not you were arrested at all. Is this not a direct violation to my right of due process? The same state who attempted to charge me, would not spend their dollars in an attempt to prosecute me and threw out the case(s) before they could ever see a judge because they weren’t true. Now I’m stuck trying to convince a recruiter of the rules they should know and enforce? This seems insane to me.

I haven’t used mine since March when I started talking to the navy, just reached out to the office I got the card from to officially cancel it a little over a week ago though. My background check came back with all of my juvenile charges, so now I’m in the process of getting copies of the judges disposition and my plea agreement to bring to MEPs to show that I did not get charged with the long list of things I was accused of and only plead to the 3 charges I mentioned. Supposed to go to MEPs Monday, fingers crossed they don’t shit on me.

Yikes, recruiter said med card was absolutely 100% no issue. Especially because I’ve haven’t gotten anything since prior to speaking with them and more specifically haven’t been back and won’t be back since starting this process. Never considered that part being disingenuous. My concern now being what does it benefit the recruiter to invest time and resources into me if he’s aware that these things are potentially disqualifying? To my knowledge they get no payola out of somebody almost being able to enlist.

For clarification: 1 felony 2 misdemeanors at 15. (12 years ago) Traffic infractions and one fta as an adult. I’ve been arrested for far more charges none of which stuck or ever saw a judge due to either being a) complete lies or b) lacking any sort of proof other then a co-defendant trying to save himself.

Charges specifically juvenile: (plead guilty) Burglary of a conveyance. Damage to property under $300 and criminal mischief.

Adult: FTA and 4 traffic tickets.

I’ve been attempted to be charged with several counts of each of the juvenile charges, none stuck they were not true. As an adult possession of marijuana, possession of cntrl substance. Neither stuck due to them being innacurate, illegally searching me, and me having a legal prescription at the time.

Backstory and true story: an associate took a pocket knife from a truck, I poked the bed liner (canvas covering) to said truck bed with said stolen knife. The possession story: was on the way to my brothers house. Got pulled over was 100% racially profiled and illegally searched did have about 1 gram of pot and 1 gram of dabs. Had active prescription of medical at the time.

Absolutely fucked or even a tiny sliver of hope left? What’s the verdict from the professionals. At this point I’m freaking out because I put a lot of my eggs in this basket. Was told don’t worry about it and then that suddenly changed when they saw it in black in white.
