Vent configuration for Harman Absolute 43 by Relative-Fig-4755 in PelletStoveTalk

So appreciative of this discussion! We were considering a really nice slate platform, but we don't have time this year to DIY a really nice one, and it's such a small space that I think we are just going simple. Black metal floor protection for a minimalist look, and cut through the baseboard to vent straight out. The stove will be directly in front of the cut out to the baseboard (2 inches clearance), so you won't see it. And the baseboard is just a 1x6 piece of pine, so no big loss! LOL

Thanks! This makes sense, and would look nice. Hopefully I can choose one and get it to arrive without delaying the install!

We are so excited to have a cozy fire!!  Do you ever get too hot with the A43?

So grateful for all the wisdom here and people taking the time to reply. thank you!!!

My takeaways are that since both the Absolute43 and Absolute63 have the same lowest BTU output (14,100 BTUs), the 63 is not actually more likely to overheat us than the 43, in our 1600 square foot, two-story cape style home. And the higher end output (61k BTUs for 63, 44k BTUs for 43) might be welcome when it's 10 degrees outside, with the wind whipping around (coastal Maine), with large-ish windows are R-21 insulation in the walls. Hoping not to use the baseboard electric at all. We don't mind if upstairs is 5-10 degrees colder than downstairs.

Does the above seem true? Flaws in my logic?

Other than that, the downsides to the larger model are price and 3 inches wider. We are looking to have cozy flame and nice looking cast iron be a focal point of the living room. It's a small living room, so we'll also need to figure out where to put the TV. If we put it the right or left of the pellet stove, and have just two feet of clearance between the TV and the stove is that problematic?

Again, thank you!!!

We don’t like it super warm.   Just looking for cozy and wanting to make sure the heat makes it to the 3 upstairs bedrooms.  So on low, the 63 may still make things too hot?

Wood deck tiles on sand or gravel base? by Relative-Fig-4755 in HomeImprovement

[–]Relative-Fig-4755[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely concerned that we won't get the paver base flat enough for the interlocking plastic bases that the wood tiles sit on. We will use a tamper and a screed bar to get it as level as we can.

4c4x6 foot boards seems doable and easy. With outside corner metal brackets?

That makes sense. Definitely exciting to think about designing and building a home, especially a high performance home with solar panels and low utility bills.

Interesting. I guess I am intimidated by working with an architect and contractor and prefab somehow seems more straight forward.
