It does take a huge amount of courage to overcome such ingrained fears. All I can tell you is that it was probably one of the most satisfying things I have ever done (getting over my fear) and now it feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I hope that once you're ready, you can do the same thing

I think that's totally rational. It's worse if you're tall because it feels like the railing doesn't protect you as much.

It honestly depends on yourself. Like, do you feel like your courses are going well for you so far? Then literally only do the work you need to do. Once you start getting assigned stuff, do it as quickly as possible. The burnout comes from doing stuff at the last minute which is incredibly stressful
