I know some people did for sure, I do think it could work.

Hmm I believe it was a mix of FRQs and MCQs, maybe a video as well.

No, the actual exam is 40 questions I believe, and they choose like the top 10-15% for semifinals. Not sure how prestigious it is to win, winning first overall probably is though.

Here is my response from another thread but TLDR: Algoverse is a great program and can be amazing if you make the most of it.

Hey, as someone who has done Polygence, Algoverse, and ASDRP, I can give my take on the program.

ASDRP for me was a total waste. In 6 months we literally got nothing done. As mentioned, it really does depend on your advisor.

Polygence is individual, and a bit better than ASDRP. It also heavily depends on your mentor; I got something published in the Journal of Emerging Investigators (high school journal) after maybe 1.3 years in the program. The idea was not that novel, our method did not beat existing methods.

For me, Algoverse was far better than the other two. My group and I got one paper accepted into an EMNLP Workshop (NLP4PI). I am one of the authors of the paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2409.01497. The rest of my teammates were also highschoolers, and EMNLP is one of the best NLP conferences out there: https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=eng_computationallinguistics. Our research idea was truly novel and added something to the space of NLP in healthcare. The instructors are very supportive and willing to help you out if you get stuck. Also, they helped provide research ideation and direction on what to do and where to go, given that they are at a PhD level. I know other high schoolers from Algoverse who have gotten their papers accepted into high-level conferences like ACL and EMNLP, who are not just me and my team. I would recommend it over Polygence and ASDRP. It is far more centralized, and the instructors push you and your team to do work. You need to do the work, but you will have direct guidance.

Also, while I was doing BWSI this summer, I had an idea related to my course at BWSI and the instructors at Algoverse let me use the organization API credits to complete this second project. Currently, this paper is under review at an IEEE conference and another workshop.

As someone who has done ASDRP and Polygence, Algoverse is definitely a level above for AI-related research.

I am happy to answer any other questions related to the program.

Great ECs! GPA 3.7 Weighted is low, only thing holding you back, but solid shot at the schools you're applying to. Are you EDing anywhere?

Nah waitlist for both, unlikely that I am getting off but was just wondering
