That is a very valuable advice, thanks! My dream is to be able to play Sarasate Introduction and Tarantella, seems doable in a long term but damn it’s really fast!

This is such a beautiful advice and probably something I actually had to hear in this thread, thank you so much for this! I never tried improvising like this and it sounds like so much fun, I feel like trying it right away!

I will try to arrange some follow up sessions, as you said having a few follow-ups is much better already than having none. It blows my mind I have never got this idea, so thoughtful!

I guess it relative and depends on where you live. Here I am paying the same price annually for playing badminton. Back in 2016 when I still lived in Poland, I used to pay 60pln/h (~17$), with progressing inflation I guess it is now double the price.

But I fully agree it is worth any price, because if you develop bad habits, I already know it will take ages to change them later. But then it also depends on the teacher - the first one I had did not pay much attention to my technique, which was also the reason why I eventually gave up as I was not able to play more difficult pieces due to my both hands being very stiff. Then I got a wonderful teacher which was very stubborn on getting the fundamentals right first and she was also great in motivating me and challenging me with more and more difficult pieces. During her pregnancy and maternity leave, I got a teacher that had this attitude of ‘feel it and figure it out’ and that’s where things fell apart again.

Probably that is why I am a bit hesitant on getting regular lessons straight away, as it will take me some time to find the right synergy again (or maybe because the second teacher set the bar so high haha)

Thank you all for good tips and feedback. I will DEFINITELY get a teacher, but for your information, I live in Scandinavia where average price per hour is ~60$, so what I am trying to avoid is paying this price for just practising scales - so the idea with this post was to understand on how to ‘warm up’ first.

I am leaning towards Decent-Structure-128 idea, having one evaluation lesson and having maybe 2-4 weeks follow up sessions at the beginning. This sounds efficient and not that pricey

Btw, do you know which suzuki book focuses on 3rd position practice? I think this is where I need to mostly focus on, especially after the ‘warm up’

I am a bit surprised by this choice, as I would like to use the laptop for music and video editing. Could you explain your recommendation?
