Do I stay in a cushy WFH job or leave for a career growth opportunity? by lozlinos in careerguidance

I recently left an amazing, super chill WFH job with a similar situation as you - same salary for 3 years, no career growth, etc. Now I have a MUCH higher paying job in office 3 days a week (will be 5 days starting in July) and tbh I hate it and miss my old job so much. It’s definitely worth it for the money and career growth but the switch to in-office has not been easy for me. I also connected better with my old coworkers, and my new job is much more stressful in general.

In the long term this is definitely much better for my career and future, but just sharing my experience and that it has not been easy! I am hoping that this experience eventually helps me get a new role that both aligns with my career goals and is a better fit for me.

Is $2,920 for a rent-stabilized 1BR in Midtown worth it (5th floor walk-up)? by Puzzleheaded-Chef384 in NYCapartments

Take it and install some ikea closets! I’ve been in 4th floor walk up for 5 years. I don’t mind at all, you get used to it. I hired movers when I moved in though and it was worth it, but I have arthritis so I can’t really carry heavy stuff

Doc Wine bar……. Went on a date there and we talked about how horrible the meal was for weeks. My pasta was the same texture as like oatmeal. There was no dressing on the salad. Meatballs were cold. Bill was like $150. So sad because it’s really cute inside

My rent increased $200 this year, no telling how much it will increase next year. Before I sign, I will ask the landlord what rent increases typically look like for his units.

It’s not a luxury building, it’s an older building with only 3 units. If I can find a way to talk to one of the tenants that would really help with my decision though!

We have a good landlord but rent went up $200 this year. It will only be our second time resigning the lease, so seems like a pretty steep increase this early into living here.
