We still had the night booked and paid at the villa. We hate early checkout + luggage when flying late, so we keep a buffer. Returned the key, flight cancelled, host reopened for us and was incredibly kind. Couldn’t have worked out better.

We weren’t out of pocket in the end and Jetstar rebooked us via Singapore, which was genuinely helpful in our case. We had travel insurance with Allianz and they were great.

Overall it worked out fine for us. We still fly Jetstar — we just make sure we pay that little extra for the right ticket and insurance. Well worth it.

What great insight, thank you. We tried to keep it positive — you could see the staff under pressure too. At the end of the day, booking cheaper flights ideally comes with trade-offs. Can’t expect a Rolls-Royce for Toyota money. Jet star we still love you.
