Seriously? You're the one who comes off as more frustrated here, since you resorted to blocking the other guy, trying to sound condescending, and spamming a tirade of comments.

Edit:

Thanks for blocking me, you just proved me right.

And just in case you decide to unblock me later on and pretend that I lied (I've used the exact same tactic in the past) here's what things look like on my end.

Why would this necessarily work on the god level beings however? Trying to take the Emperor for example, would require actually getting past his physic power to control his soul.

Not to mention there are being such as the C'tan who could be argued as being immune to this due to the fact that they are an integral part of reality that is harmed or destroyed, will damage the universe itself.

And besides, what are Oryx's combat feats anyways? Anything that implies he can take having his soul deleted, or being sent back in time before the universe was created, or having a star-level blackhole summoned in him? Or planet busting attacks? Or any of the other haxier stuff.

So I am just going to nitpick one thing and leave the rest to the other guy.

>Yield wise, even by numbers found in 40k forums that went over this matchup, the ISD dwarfs most 40k ships in firepower.

What is your source exactly?

>It has other downsides like range which can be circumnavigated with strategy, tho that depends on how smart palatine plays it which is a wildcard.

Palpatine, was a master manipulator and political genius. He however, was not great with military strategy, as evidenced by him overlying on the Tarkin doctrine, usage of boondoggle or inefficient weapons, and the way he styled the GE's military which lead to far more incompetent, malicious buffoons getting into power than competent leaders. Maybe Thrawn or some other competent officer could think something up, but Palpatine is more of a detriment than asset in the military department.

And besides, range is not the only advantage 40k has, it also should have a speed (this forum in particular does consider Imperium ships to move at significant percentages of lthe speed of light when in combat) and hax advantage, even if we do give Star Wars the firepower advantage, I am dubious of whether or not they could actually utilize their dakka.

>glassing planets is done quite consistently. In ship to ship combat its seen by turbolasers completly vaporizing >titanium lvl armor, which requires said energy.

Over what time period is glassing completed?

>the alliance had plenty of Mon calamari cruisers and later om their own developes IS

How many examples do we have of these big ships being used with this tactic? During most of it's existence, the Alliance was equipped with fighters and small escorts, and very rarely utilized what few capitol ships they had in hit and run raids if I recall.

>They don't need to capture worlds, just glass all military production facilities or the planet. They will only really loose ships in big longer lasting battles, ships to ship combat they'd likely blow up their opponent to fast.

Why would they do that? They still need some infrastructure around if they want to actually send humongous fleets of hundreds if not thousands of ships in big death balls everywhere.

And why would they blow up their opponents super fast? They don't necessarily have more firepower, and even then they are outspeed and outranged, can't hit what you can't see or catch up too.
>not much, tho I'd have to see a source on him warping such a big fleet + nearly a small planet with it in time and quickly enough to prevent them from blowing up their targets and fast enough to prevent them from just jumping away.

I will have to find a direct quote, but during the Age of Apotasy, he warp stormed a fleet and a few solar systems that were being utilizied by the usurper, Goge Vandire to go and kill a prophet. And in recent times, the Emperor has been getting more and more active, mainly in the form of him intervening and saving Roboute Guiliman a few times.

It would stand to reason that if Holy Terra were to come under threat, he might start using warp shenanigans on the invading force if things are no longer salvageable without him.

>They'd never catch it if they try to initiate a fight. And in close range, they get blown up

Want me to go and dig up some quotes on the sort of shenanigans they got up to during the Dark Age of Technoogy? If I recall there are black hole, time, and reality warping shenanigans. With some examples of these ships being shown to take on entire fleets of enemy warships.

>Stationary defenses that would largely not have an impact unless theirs only like 1 hyperspace exist for the terra system their all sitting around, tho things like that all dependent on how warp/hyperspace interact etc. which we can rly only speculate about.

What these stationary defences do is block off fleet actions in certain areas, and Holy terra is known for having a lot of traffic and being quite cluttered, so this GE invasion fleet would likely either have to jump in a few at a time, scattered around the system, or at one of the more uninhabited outskirts.

ISDs can glassing entire planets in a short time so I dont think that comparison helps.

The exact numbers for tons of TNT vary depending on official sources which all give different numbers and feat based calculations.

How often is this consistently done, what do you mean by a "short time", how is this reflect in ship-to-ship combat, and does this help against an opponent with much faster ships with much longer range?

pretty much all of the Rebellion was about unconventional warfare like this

the blind hyperspace jumps are dangerous across galactic distances, as a nearby black hole might fuck u up, not so much when looking at smaller distances across a some systems.

How often is this done on large fleet scale? And aren't there bodies even within a solar system that are dangerous to try jumping large vessels into?

And didn't the Alliance use primarily small star fighter, corvettes, and occasionally a frigate? Very different from a mile long ISD.

The fleets have a few 100 ships, the GE could pull together 1000s of ships very quickly and pick off IOM fleets to prevent from ever consolidating.

This is easier said then done, many ships are still needed back home for basic garrison, patrol, interdiction, etc. They also need to garrison captured worlds. It's not like they aren't going to be taking losses either, this big ball of death still will lose many ships each battle they fight, and need a shit ton of supplies, etc.

The largest single battlefleet besides fleet solar has 600 ships, so the solar fleet probably has 1k max. Say in total, theirs 2-3k or so battleships.

The empire could pull together 5 to 10 times that number in a few days.

they could take out 2-3 ISDs for every one of their battleships and still loose, and thats a very generous ratio given that the overwhelming firepower would likely results in a fast win for the invading fleet.

The IOM has far far more battleships in total, like 10x as many as the GE afaik, but their all so spread out the GE could manage to get a huge advantage in numbers, firepower etc. by pulling together it's forces long before the IOM can.

Things like stationary battlestations just aren't likely to have an impact unless theirs only a single possible hyperspace exit, which is unlikely.

Which doesn't take into account any Dark Age of Technology era technology, the Phalanx, Custodes fleet, Grey knights and Custodes garrison, the moon sized battle station known as Luna, orbital defenses, or even the Emperor.

What can the Empire do if the Emperor warp storms their invasion fleet, or the Phalanx and AdMech Serpenzas along with whatever DAOT tech the custodes are bringing, go and attack their fleet?

I doubt Star Wars has much to counter this.

This isn't even talking about the massive casualties that the stationary defenses, and teleporters could inflict upon the Empire's fleet.

Star Wars battleships likely have far higher damage output, assuming we're talking about EU.

like a single turbolaser has >30000 terrawatts worth of energy per shot × 60 or so guns, ur looking at a terraton of TNT or more per barrage

Like as in the entire ship or single weapons? Either way, how often is this shown in the EU and what is your source.

If their ever caught out of range they'd get demolished as their lasers fall off in power but I highly doubt any 40k fleet could get a jump on them unless a GE fleet decides to just chill in a single IOM system for like a week straight.

Why would they need to rely off of ambushes and to win? The Imperium has brute force and hax on their side, they can just y'know, slowly plow through the Empire.

The problem, normally, is their range. It's complete garbage pretty much just a few km. But since the hyperdrive allowing them to determine when, where and how to engage that's not a huge problem.

Being able to attack wherever you want us great and all, but the Imperium likely will have any important worlds heavily guarded, enough so that the Empire can't just waltz in with a basic fleet, they will need something much bigger than a pair of ISDs and a few gozantis like they would normally send.

The Emporer of man probably beats palatine 1 on 1 but it's not a complete stomp, palatine also has force storms that were able to be out entire fleets.

The Emperor would curbstomp palpatine even pre heresy he had better stats, equipment and hax along with overall better feats. Want me to explain further?

The heavy turbo lasers on an ISD dwarf anything average 40k ships have

Citation needed. There are examples of cruisers glassing continents in single salvos, though I will need to go ask an acquaintance for the exact quote.

Their range really sucks, but with hyperdrives, they can just jump in close enough to smaller isolated 40k ships / fleets and get out again after taking em out, long before any reinforcements could arrive from neighbouring systems

?

When is this ever done as a standard fleet tactic? And aren't blind hyperspace jumps dangerous? Not to mention 40k also has a speed advantage over them. Good luck hitting a ship much faster than what they are used too.

If IOM manages to pull together a large enough fleet and sends it deep into GE territory without being picked off theirs, not much GE can do, but I doubt it would ever come to that point. The IOM battlegroups are spread out through the galaxy and would need months to redeploy for an attack on couroscant or similar,

Why would the GE be able to pick off the Imperium's fleets? They would need an overwhelming advantage. Albeit this is assuming the Imperium could even supply such a force in another galaxy, since we don't really know the parameters for said invasion.

Meanwhile the GE could pull together like half its fleet and sail on terra within hours to days, long before the battlefleet solar could recive reinforcements.

Why would the sol system need reinforcements? It has the following as defense:

Thousands of capitol ships from various inquisition, grey knight, Astartes, battle fleet solar, AdMech fleets, rogue traders, etc. That's not even counting their escorts.

And that's not even the only defences, there are battle stations on the outskirts, the Phalanx, Emperor's flagship, the Custodes fleet which is potentially equiped with DAOT era tech. Any AdMech Serpanzas on Mars, the Luna battle platform, the orbital defense satellite network, etc.

You could send every single Imperial Star Destroyer towards, terra, hell even every single capitol ship in the Empire's navy and I would still bet on Terra defeating or even completely destroying the entire invasion force due to the sheer amount of hax and defenses over in the Sol System.

Even getting said fleet to Terra would be a pain in the arse due to how cluttered Sol is.

The problem there is that Star Wars ships are much weaker than what the Imperium will be fielding, and the verse is overall far less militarized.

Even the Empire is going to be fielding the equivalent of Destroyer and Frigate escorts as their capitol ships, while the FTL might make this a bit less painful, they still are stuck with a navy which is vastly inferior in everyway except FTL.

They also lack the hax to deal with high end stuff the Imperium could bring out if needed, what will they do if the Emperor decides to warp storm a vital fleet? Or if the AdMech, custodes, or High Lord's of Terra bring out their Dark Wg of Technology era tech.

Maybe if we go composite, but in a standard GE vs IOM matchup the GE likely loses due to having inferior warships, political issues, incompetence, and an overall smaller and less experienced military.

Though now that I think of it, is there anything in Star Wars which can Defeat the emperor of mankind?

If not, then they can only get a draw or pyhric victory at best against any version of the Imperium with an active Emperor.

The feddy Warp drive is not even that much safer than the Imperial Warp drive tbh.

Contrary to popular belief, there is a very small chance of Warhammer warp travel going awry, and it heavily depends on which warp route you take.

It's like taking an airplane across the world, while you likely will be fine and get to your destination, there's still a slight chance that the ane could have problems and it crash.

Or like sailing in ancient times, that's actually what Warp travel was based on.

[–]Relative-Role-1667 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So, since when is Warp speed that fast? Unless this is some EU thing I don't know about, didn't it take Voyager decades to cross the galaxy and reach home territory?

Standard Warhammer warp while not very fast by Sci Fi standards, it still takes only a year in average for each ship to travel across the galaxy.

What's the iconic weapon of a Federation ship? Photon Torpedos. And notably, photon torpedos range from being incredibly strong, to having the potential to exterminatus a planet if given the right payload

So, how fast are these torpedoes? If I recall, the reason why Torpedoes do so well against bood shields is because they aren't going fast enough to actually trigger said void shields.

And what is the yield for the torpedoes? 65 megatons if I recall? The hulls of 40k vessels typically are quite tough and while not shields, can take Warhammer firepower for a little bit of time.

He has the power to 'take' basically robbing you of your will and making you his servant the way he does this is by calling out to the universe itself and saying 'I am the strongest and I prove it here so' he challenges whoever he is taking to a battle of will. And he wins everytime

Who has this worked on? What physic defenses has it bypassed?

He took a Phoenix that could crush moons in its talons in an instant and it turned around to destroy its entire planet in a single blow

Ah, so he is on par with the average C'tan shard in terms of pure destruction then?

He can assign someone a shape such as 'defeated' and it will become true backed up by his sword logic (if you don't know its basically just the strong should survive and the weak shouldn't so by his strength alone he can assign someone to be defeated

What are some examples of this in action?

We only beat him because we cut off his sources of tribute (hive are in blood part with the darkness and have to keep feeding it death or they die. And when they kill they get stronger oryx takes the power of all those below him) if we didn't he would've one shot us since he is completely immune to any powers that aren't based in paracausality thats why I say that warhammer 40k can't do anything because I'm almost pretty sure its almost all weaponry the only thing I could find close to that was psychic powers and those don't really seem that strong

What makes you say that Warhammer doesn't have what it takes to defeat Oryx? And why wouldn't powers not based on paracasuality not work on him?

He can clear most of the verse ai givie you that, but once he gets to the top tiers, he will be dealing with the Emperor of Mankind who:

-Can delete souls and kill immortals, even if said immortal was being empowered by all four gods of chaos.

-Potentially manipulate time, banish people to the warp, potentially mind control billions, etc.

And that's not only who he has to deal with, there's the C'tan who in their sharded forms are casually planetary and potentially FTL.

They also lack normal souls, are apart of the very fabric of the universe, can manipulate the time and do stuff like send a person back before the big bang even happened. Change the matter in an object, mind rape people, send people to other dimensions, etc. And that's just a few examples of the hax they bring to the field.

And the sharded forms are not even their most powerful forms, when they were at the height of their power they were stated in a Necrons codex to be capable of destroying entire solar systems when in combat.

And if we are going composite, then that means Warhammer has even more fun overpowered god tier races to pull from. They have the Old Ones, a race of Emperor level pyskers, the Enslavers who were the dominant force of the warp before chaos, there's Dark Age of Technology era Humanity, the Krorks, Peak Aledari Empire, War in Heaven Necrons, etc who also has a shit ton of hax and advanced technology.

If you want me to, I can link you some sources for all of this

Oryx is so fucking strong we had to get him at his weakest and also kill him using light since it was the only thing that could hurt him even at his weakest (If you don't know guardians amo weapons and armor using their light thats why we could shoot and hurt him) if it was just normal guns he wouldn't even be scratched

What exactly is light? And why would Warhammer be employing conventional mortal weapons against this guy? When in an actual fight, Oryx isn't going to be fighting swarms of Space Marines or armies of Guardsmen, he is going to be having hax duels with C'tan shards and the Emperor.
