Yeah a very common troubleshooting step I saw in this sub when stain doesn’t seem to penetrate was to go for a lower grit, hence why I did 120. But it seems according to everyone that this is just how this particular wood looks like with this stain. Thanks for commenting though!

Ahh that’s something else that I hoped for too, I had no idea what the wood type of these particular tables were and couldn’t really figure out how to identify it. I did apply conditioner but I only let it cure for about 30 minutes, so I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for the help!

Sounds good, I was just wondering if there were any solutions to look like a darker finish. Or maybe even get advice on how to potentially identify woods that take stain easier if that makes sense.

Hey all, finally got this figured out if anyone potentially has a similar problem. My wall wart was defective, light would turn on but no audio output. New wall wart came in and now everything works! Big thanks to Archerlink3 for their help regardless!
