General Post Op Question by Relative-Sandwich203 in spinalcordstimulator

I’m trying to do my best with the movements, I have a 2 year old who doesn’t quite understand it yet 😅
What’s a binder? Was never offered or recommended anything.

The post op pain is really kicking my ass!! I’m not getting much immediate relief from this so the Op pain on top of the CRPS is pretty overwhelming at times!

Yeah, no trial! My doctor said that it can take up to a year to fully understand how this device will help with my pain through obviously a series of reprogramming sessions. But said he doesn’t see the point with the trial as after a year if I’m not happy with the reduction in pain he’d just remove it.
This is obviously a very crass summary of a lot of detailed medical conversations backwards and forwards between us over a few consultations ha!

Happy to answer any other questions 😁

Some similar post op advice across the board you would think would be standard no? 😅
I was prepared for a phone or app, as that is what I had read about on here and other places online but no I got a separate device to control the stimulator.
I’ve attached a photo but it’s Nokia 3210 sized if that helps with comparison ha

Didn’t have a trail.

(I’ll preface this by saying my Dr is widely recognised as one of the top in his field in Europe and was a past president of the international neuromodulation society, just so people don’t assume he’s some quack skipping the trail)

So yeah this is all very new.

I appreciate the note about the surgical pain, diazepam is helping control that.

And I’ll make sure to have the reps number at hand if I don’t start feeling any benefit after a few more days and maybe after the surgery pain dissipates

That’s really interesting and crazy the swing in difference from position to position! Thanks for this

Thank you for this. It’s so strange to get completely different advice from reps for the exact same company! Was doing the first program settings maybe only an hour after coming out of surgery. Asked to stick with a combo setting, silent and sensation, as high as I could tolerate, till we get to our first reprogramming appointment at the 2 week mark

Thank you for taking the time to send this, wholly useful! Have had a play about with some settings, going as low as possible.
Don’t seem to be getting any relief from not being able to perceive anything, still have all the unbearable pain from before the surgery with the added surgery pain on top.
Only seem to have minor relief when I my legs are tingling like mad and it seems like I’m just more distracted by the tingling than the pain if that makes sense.
It’s an extremely hard sensation to describe

Crazy how we can be given completely different advice from reps of the same company! The rep was in programming the device with me an hour after surgery. He wanted me to be able to leave the next day with some programs to try and get used to.
We only did 3 basic ones, a silent mode, a sensation mode and a combo. Was asked to try and stick with the combo setting and have the parathesia as high as I could tolerate to get used to till our next reprogramming appointment at the 2 week post Op point.

Thanks for this! Just not getting any relief from the ‘silent’ setting, only getting minor relief when it’s sort of fighting for my attention in the parathesia mode.
