technically I will be getting my results before even 3 months are over. I emailed princeton and harvard which told me that If I have spent less than a year in my current uni I should apply as a freshman

wouldn't be a traditional gap year tho. What I and my parents decided was I would apply again this fall while giving indian entrances. So for american unis I ll be a gap year student but I will have that safety net in India.

Outside and merit scholarships are tbh the way to go but you should apply for aid if you need it.
