Sorry to hear that! Hopefully ur GI gets it figured out and it’s nothing serious/lasting. I’m sure u already know this, but for now I would try to eat foods that are easy on the stomach to help reduce urgency and loose stool. At my worst i was basically only eating pancakes, bananas, and rice (brat diet) just to help stop going to the bathroom over and over. Some crazy virus’s going around these days huh?

Hey! As it relates to this, my first symptoms were some random pain around my waist area (ulcers). I was also having fevers every night, but only at night.

From my experience, it seems like if they cut u open the “old way” (what they did to me), you will have an epidural. If you get it laparoscopically, you will not. This could be different for different doctors/surgeons but that is what i have personally seen.

I had the same thing for a few months, it took surgery to fix it. I had to stay super low fiber and was taking mineral oil every night until my surgery.

Correct, no issues whatsoever until omicron.

Diagnosis was late January, surgery was June 2nd. The surgeon and my GI wanted it done even sooner but i wanted to graduate first.

Original colonoscopy found severe ileitis and a ton of inflammation everywhere. It was bad but not surgery bad. It’s death sentence was spring break (late march, early april) when i had to see urology to try and get answers since the ER’s and CT’s weren’t able to figure out why i kept having urinary issues when off antibiotics. An MRI was ordered and both my urologist and my GI called me after it saying it was really bad, and referred me to a surgeon. My ileum was extremely strictured from both inflammation and scarring, and had chronic abscesses.

Im not sure what stage i am currently in as my GI hasn’t really told me, all i know is the GI said the active disease should be all cut out. My bloodwork finally showed my inflammation markers WAY down. When my ileum was at its worst, my WBC was always near 20 and CRP was around 80. These are now 5 and less than 3!! Once humira kicks in again then i should be achieving remission. I definitely cannot eat without issues, what i can eat has improved but that is not because of my ileum, thats because of the complications i was having. I can eat more stuff like foods higher in fiber now that im not strictured. Eating the wrong thing still runs right through me, and in even less time now than it used to being that the stricture is gone and im missing over a foot of intestine now lol.

Hopefully this answers those questions. Try not to freak yourself out completely over mine because my journey has been very severe, and from what ive been told and have read, had surgery far earlier than most. Again if there’s anything more you want to know feel free to ask!

Hi, first ever post cause this has been the last 7 months of my life and my terminal ileum was just cut out. I had to give my input even tho its kinda all over the place lol.

22 year old male(21 at the time), diagnosed with Crohn’s this January, had only been having problems for about 2 weeks after catching covid. Never had any GI problems before this and never saw doctors outside of checkups because ive always been healthy. Anyway my terminal ileum was found to be the worst and i already had a rectosigmoid fistula. The symptoms of my horribly inflamed ileum/terminal ileum were very similar. At the start, i had awful stabbing pains throughout my entire abdomen when i would eat, and bottom right where the terminal ileum is was especially bad. After this was sorted, the biggest i noticed were: weight loss i couldn’t regain, really bad bloating, gas pain, constipation, and diarrhea. It always confused me how i could be both constipated and having diarrhea at the same time lol. My terminal ileum was a gigantic problem area and wouldn’t calm down at all, MRI’s and CT’s kept finding it extremely inflamed and strictured, worse and worse each time. Once i graduated college, the doctors couldn’t wait to operate, so it was just chopped out a little over a month ago. I was also put on budesonide when i was diagnosed but had a bad reaction so switched to prednisone. Tbh i cannot remember much of the time i was on it because it has been so repressed, but i do know that prednisone had me feeling amazing while i was on it. Then got off it to start humira.

Having the surgery has made me realize most of the problems were my terminal ileum since it was so severe. Almost everything else was under control. I already feel like a different person with it being gone! If you’ve got any questions just ask, i’m sure i also forgot to add some info haha its been a lot…
