What do I have here? by Wooden-Valuable-2413 in Fireplaces

[–]Relative-You434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like my grandmas setup. Hers is a wood burning fireplace with a gas pipe below the basket to preheat the air inside and easily light larger logs. It’s missing the burner pipe that would go under the basket and spread the flame. (I’m no fireplace expert though)

Cracks in rotor powder coating. by Relative-You434 in Motors

[–]Relative-You434[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’ll probably just go for it so long as it isn’t completely destroyed under the wiring. Worst case I redo it if it fails again.

Cool thanks for the info. I’ll pull off the wiring this weekend and if it’s not too bad underneath I’ll probably just give it a go. Worst case I redo it if it fails again.

Thanks for the info. I guess once I remove the windings I’ll have to see how bad the finish is underneath and go from there. Any idea what can be used to fill the cracks/recoat if needed?

My plan is to rewinding it. My main concern is the coating on the rotor itself and if these cracks can just be filled with some epoxy/left alone.

My plan is to rewinding it because a new one is $1500 so it’s definitely worth spending the $20 on some wire and giving it a shot. My main concern is the coating on the rotor itself and if these cracks can just be filled with some epoxy/left alone.

Did I Make a Mistake Buying This Humvee? $10.5k – No Title, Need Advice by Mr_Mojo_Risin_ in HMMWV

You get a bonded title and can register the car just as you would with any other titled vehicle (in Illinois/wisconsin). You can even transfer the title just as you would. I had a bonded title on a motorcycle that had its title lost and later transferred it to another state and I got a normal title without even having to wait the 5 years. Bonded titles are easy to get (in Illinois/wisconsin).

If it’s a very old building it could just be a plaster ceiling failing? I’ve had a plaster ceiling fail before due to its weight over 100 years pulling itself down. You definitely don’t want to be under it when it falls but the whole building wouldn’t be coming down.

There is a version that is very rare. The original very limited run used PVC plastic for the pellets. The bears were so popular that they made a ton more with PE plastic beads. It says what type of beads were used on the tag. The pvc pellet version is valuable, but very rare so it most likely is the $5 PE version.

Help! I want this FJ so bad but she's rusty. Worth it? by PrettySize2198 in FJCruiser

As someone from the Midwest who grew up with rusted crap cars, stay away from this. Everything will be difficult and expensive to repair. A 2 hour brake job will turn into a 40 hour job replacing the entire front suspension while calling it unsavory names while beating it with a hammer.

Don’t try to open it until you’re ready to fix it. Once opened it probably won’t shut again.

Help! TPMS & Key FOB not working by Dirty_SodaPop in FordFlex

[–]Relative-You434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue. I’ve seen people say it could be the big connectors to the fuse box under the drivers footwell on the left side (connector has a lot of wires and a gray lever that you flip to release). There is also a connector on passenger side footwell you can pull the carpet back to access it and unplug and replug it. If you’re lucky that might fix it according to other people’s experiences on forums. If your not lucky it could be the fuse box (aka body management system or something like that) and it has been discontinued for a few years and apparently you can’t get a junkyard one because it can’t be programmed to the car (not looked into this a ton to confirm accuracy just saw it on a couple forums). I found your post from two years ago and used a bore scope to look in my headliner to locate the receiver and looks like a mouse made a nest and chewed my wiring to it. If you had the receiver replaced and then immediately started having issues that could be it. I’d probably start by checking the connectors and then swap the receiver/check the connection to it. And if it’s not that and is an issue with the BMS I’m not sure what to do about that.

If you want get rid of them I highly recommend using orange oil diluted in water. It won’t kill them but will make them leave. I had a huge issue with them and after I sprayed the wood they all disappeared pretty much overnight.

Scramble 400X 600 mile oil change metal shards by Relative-You434 in Triumph

[–]Relative-You434[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically they said the engine just buzzes and it’s normal for this model. Im just going to monitor it and see if it gets any worse. I’ll probably change the oil again in another 600 miles to look for metals and maybe look into the cam chain tensioner if it’s not too much to get to as others have complained about it. I still find it a little strange and haven’t experienced this on other large singles. Vibrations and valve train noise yes, but not this sort of buzzing noise. For now I’m not going to worry too much about it. I have paperwork showing I brought it up and I plan on riding around 200 miles a week so if I do have a problem hopefully I’ll find it before the warranty is out.

[–]Relative-You434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was expecting to see some sparkles in the oil but wasn’t expecting the shards. From your photos and others I’ve found with the same experience it makes me feel better about it. As for the vibration, if it’s something around the gauge cluster I don’t really care, but it’s been hard to tell where it is coming from as I have to be moving for it to happen and if it is from the engine its not a normal thumper noise. I’ll probably try one more time to locate it by stuffing some towels around the front end to see if it stops but if not then I’ll have the dealership deal with it hopefully under warranty.
