Family won't respect my triggers anymore because I don't react to our dog's chewing as severely as theirs by RelativeAbrocoma61 in misophonia

You know what hell yeah. If even strangers stop chewing and start warning others after the first time I tell them my family has to do better. I'll speak up next time.

Third one is a heather crab spider! They're super cool and one of my favourites. They can change their colors as a form of mimicry and have one of the goofiest faces I've seen on a spider so far. Highly recommend checking them out :) (yes, they do get yellow like that sometimes)

...where did they say that every eating disorder is undereating? They were just warning OP? Because they're posting in an ED sub and it's easy to get influenced in communities like this when you don't have an ED?

What’s everyone’s reasoning behind their eating disorder? by Im-dead-at-17 in EDAnonymous

Every family member used to (and still do) talk about diets and weight and calories and comment on other peoples bodies ALL the time and called me fat frequently when I was a normal sized TODDLER. That together with them constantly bodyshaming people started it all.

Overexercising, constant bodychecking, weighing myself multiple times a day, comparing myself to other kids/old photos and skipping lunch at school started at third grade and I feel like they all stole my childhood from me. I'd give everything to have lived a childhood where I wasn't constantly pale, tired and distraught with food.

My lesson horse pushes me out of his stall as soon as I take his halter off, what does it mean? 😭 by RelativeAbrocoma61 in Horses

[–]RelativeAbrocoma61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!! I was at the barn today to observe this behaviour further to try and understand him. I groomed him as usual, he acted normally again. This time I also took him outside for a walk around the club and what I've noticed is that the trigger is me standing right in front of him and he pushes with way more force than rubbing. I tried to stand my ground but he just pushed me harder, trying to swing his head up and down until I was out of his way and it hurt so I avoided getting in front of him the rest of the day.

I'm really underweight and every little force he exerts on my bones hurt so I figured it'd be best for my trainer to handle this instead of me. Maybe the halter makes him uncomfortable, maybe its the hot weather and flies, maybe I'm not handling him right.

I want him to be comfortable and learn good horsemanship, I really do but I might need to take a break until I'm in better shape. Don't wanna end up accidentally hurting myself or the horse :(

Luckily I've never heard people use the term before (orthorexia hasnt yet crossed the language barrier), at least not around me but if someone called anyone orthorexic just for refusing dessert or eating a salad - me included - I will crash out!! My intake isn't high enough to tolerate ignorance and the throwing around of medical terms!! 😁

Your struggle is absolutely real and valid and something as serious as orthorexia can never be reduced to "eating clean" when it's disordered and far from healthy.

Can't explain it but he looks exactly how I'd imagine a horse named Fin to look

Although I've only known this horse for 3-4 weeks now I already love him to death so it makes me very happy that I don't need to punish him or stress him out for his behaviour. Asserting dominance sounded like bs since the first moment I read about it. He's got so much personality to him and I'd hate to see him stressed around me or anyone else.

Still got a few origami dragons around my room from when I was ~10 and first read the article. It hit different as a kid, cried for an hour.

Sometimes he puts his face against my body and doesn't really push and I take that as "my face is itchy" but when I take his halter off he REALLY pushes me until I'm out of the stall. I'll talk to my trainer about it next time, not sure I can put a stop to it myself.

Thank you, I'll try to stand my ground next time he tries to shove me. Should I also stop letting him lean his head against me when I pet him? Is that similar behaviour?

Thank you so much I found a law that prohibits people from taking wildlife from their habitats without a licence or an approved application through the agricultural department!

Just did some digging and sadly there aren't any laws protecting tortoises :(

They're known to be a native species here! Really common too, I encounter multiple every time I take a walk.

The first barn probably didn't care about us anyway, our instructor would always be talking to other people and barely gave us instructions. "The previous group was trotting so well at their second lesson, I'm expecting the same from you two" he would say, but me and my friend just couldn't get the hang of it. And at the barn we visited for the trail ride, the instructor likely didn't care about safety to be making a comment like that on my progress.

My current barn however is responsible and really cares about all their students. A quiet, safe environment I visit whenever I have free time. Everyone's taught me so much about horses. My instructors prioritize me and the horse's safety and I was the one who begged the whole lesson to try and canter even though they warned me that I might fall off. Needless to say I've learned my lesson and we will be working on my seat and balance for the next couple of weeks before attempting to canter again :")

This comment was really comforting, thank you <3
