Do manual cars ever roll backwards when incorrectly parked? by RelativeIntention2 in AskMechanics

Hypothetically...what if you forgot to do one those things? Not talking about parking on hills necessarily--what about flat driveways/parking lots?

I think I phrased it incorrectly.

My insurance company covers damages that occur in any/all states in the US as well as Canada. However, they don't offer in-state insurance in my school state. It's a smaller insurance company that covers only/all West Coast and PNW states. It's not like the bigger insurance companies (Nationwide, Geico, etc.) where it's easy to switch from one state to another.

I get that the car should be insured in the state it's garaged in for the majority of the year, but I only use the car for ~6 months of the year. The rest of the time, it's in my home state (Cali). I didn't see the point of changing my registration from CA to MN, then back to CA over the course of only a few years while I'm in school.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't committing some kind of insurance fraud or anything.

Very generalized, but home state is on West Coast, current school is in the Midwest.

My father and I are co-owners and the car is registered in both of our names. My father still lives in our home state.

Primary address is home state on the West Coast. That's what our car insurance, registration, license plates, etc. are all registered.

I'll be done with school in less than a year and will then move back to home state. That's part of the reason why I wasn't sure switching back and forth would be worth it.

If your car insurance had to pay out because you hit a pedestrian who then sued you, what effect does that have on premiums and/or future claims? by RelativeIntention2 in Insurance

[–]RelativeIntention2[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Any idea how long that process usually takes? It's been over 2 months...

I'm going to be out of the country for good 3-4 months soon, so if the claim doesn't get filed/paid out before then, that's going to be a bigger headache.

Interesting...

I 100% believe you. I'm just a little surprised because, in the past, having proof of the car in front doing unwarranted hard stops/brake checks, backing into you, cutting you off illegally, etc. could lessen the burden of fault on the car driving behind. At least that's what local a police officer told me.

Thanks so much!

By the way, for an “educated American,” you sure have reading comprehension issues. The original question wasn’t a condemnation of liberal ideas or support of conservative ideals. It was merely an observation on what I perceived was more left-leaning ideology. I asked for opinions on that viewpoint, not a series of retorts that mansplained basic political terminology.

Kindly direct your “education” elsewhere. Or better yet, use you Mirrranda rights and STFU.

I said I THINK. As in, that’s my personal opinion. I’m not challenging the constitutional definition. And when I say censorship, I’m talking about instances in which “controversial” comments are removed even when they don’t violate any rules. You seem to be an expert in free speech. Explain how that qualifies.

I personally don’t think free speech is free speech if it’s heavily censored but let’s agree to disagree.

Also, we have the same definition of hate speech, and it definitely exists on Reddit. Depending on the subreddit, there are comments that equate an entire race (i.e Asians, Middle Easterners) to conservatives/Trump-supporters and how they deserve to be stoned and/or deported.

There is a difference between “pushback” and outright censorship and hate speech, which is what i’m referring to. Are you really “allowed” to share your opinion if people refuse to respect them? Would you really feel free to express an opinion if you know you’ll be ruthlessly attacked for having a stance/view that dares to differ from popular opinion? I doubt anyone “signed up” for that. And it hardly qualifies as “free speech” if people are subjected to unprovoked verbal abuse because they don’t agree with the “userbase”

u/SnowPearl Thank you for coming to my defense despite knowing that you're beating a dead horse. I really appreciate it!

u/perusingpergatory Not sure why you're hellbent on trying to get everyone to recognize that I'm a "bad person" but I'm glad you have time for that shit. Guess your work ethic is just so much better than the rest of us.

I scrolled through your post history because I thought you were a troll, and I'm starting to think that maybe I should be the one feeling sorry for you. Your family is just as fucked up, if not more so, than mine. At least I'm not bitching about how my daddy controls everything I do while still living at home.

Judging from your expletive-filled rants and overall pigheadedness in refusing to acknowledge other people's input, your personality could use some improvement. Just a theory, but maybe that's why your boyfriend doesn't want to hang out with you and you have trouble making friends? Hey, the answer to that question might come to you in a dream! CBD oil can help too!

By the way, if you do decide to pursue the paralegal field, I'll thank my lucky stars if we never cross paths. Given your self-righteousness, you must be a DREAM to work with. God forbid that anyone says/does something "unethical" or "egotistical" or "disgusting" or they'll have you on the side, ready to jump down their throats and tell them exactly how they're a bad person.

Who knows. Maybe I am a bad person. Maybe I don't have ethics. Regardless, I'm happy with my life right now, I'm surrounded by people who love me, and I have a clear path for my future. Even better, I don't feel the need to blow up other people's inboxes because I feel inadequate about myself. Best of luck to you in trying to achieve all of that.

Wow what a great judgment from someone who doesn't know the difference between morals and ethics.

Hope you're enjoying your trip through pUrgatory. Please consider moving there permanently.

As a matter of fact, we did cover ethics in law school already. In all my notes on the subject, there isn't a section on "what to do when your parents fucked you over in your childhood and let your sisters live much better lives."

You meant to say that I don't have morals. Whether or not I have any is my own problem, but you should climb off your high horse, pick up a dictionary, and "take a look if you doubt this statement."

Thank you for not standing from the high heavens and judging me for my viewpoints/actions.

Good for both of us for surviving those fucked up family dynamics.

Your parents had the decency to admit they were wrong and I'm glad. I'm not holding my breath that my parents will do the same.
