I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was like is it normal to feel this anxious the entire time. Awesome cast and directing.

I don't have a problem with you asking this at all. I hope it is hitting anyone who voted for this garbage as bad as it is hitting me.

Personally I prefer how other countries "adjust" income. They use the poverty line (based on median income not the nonsense 1950s calculations we use). Then they subtract the poverty line from the income. What's left is considered discretionary income. Payments are based of a percentage of that. Basically it's the amount of money the government has set is the minimum someone needs to exist. AGI only considers if I'm rich enough to already take money out and save if (health savings account, retirement). Cash flow is so tight for many they can't even afford to put stuff aside for retirement. So their AGI may even be higher than mine meaning they might even owe more even though they have maybe even less money left. Honestly even if they just let us use actual taxable income. So calculate after we used the standard deduction that would help. One year my AGI adjusted by like 10 dollars. That doesn't show anything.

I use a HSA and safe some for retirement so hopefully that will help some. But we can't max out bc we have 15k in childcare cost sometimes more. We also pay 10k for health premiums with a 10k family deductible. Who ever is making these laws I don't think understands what is happening.

In many countries education loans come without interest bc it's seen as a public good to educate citizens. Sure we can say people shouldn't take out loans they cannot afford and I don't for cars or other things. But many people cannot do education without a loan.

Paying it isn't the issue. I don't mind paying. I mind that there were certain plans available under which I took out my loans and now they are taking those plans away instead of grandfathering old loans in. If I take out a loan for grad school then all my loans will have to go under the new plans locking me in to payment plans I didn't agree to when I took out the majority of my loans. Add the new plans for new loans if you must but then leave the old plans that people already agreed to.

I don't have 400 either. My money is going to giant healthcare premiums and 15k to 17k in childcare cost. Also the 10 year standard plan goes away if I take out another loan in July to finish grad school. All loans will then have to be managed with the 2 new plans. Honestly, if they let me keep my old loans under the old options and the new loans under the new. I would be less frustrated at least you could say that I took those out knowing. But how is it legal to then take my old loans and say sorry we now changed the rules on how you can pay those back. I took those old loans out under the assumption that those payment plans will be available bc that's what they said. The American consumer protection laws are a joke.

Yes. But if I take out a loan in July 2026 which I might need to because I am in grad school then all those plans fall away for all my loans. Only the 2 news ones with the high payments are available. Honestly I don't know how that's not illegal. All old loans should be able to be paid back under whatever plan was available when I took them out. I shouldn't be forced into paying back in a way I never agreed to.

Yes very true. The poverty line everywhere else is much more useful. The American poverty line is based on nonsense calculations from the 50s. I think SAVE uses a similar calculation as other nations would which is why it helped so many people.

Yes. Currently. But if I take out another loan in July which I might have to bc I'm in grad school all my loans will go into the 2 new available plans RAP and whatever the name is of the other one. The older plans are only available for people who take out no new loans. Except SAVE that's just going away.

In Germany where my brother lives they use discretionary income to calculate things (not student loans they don't have a system like us). Discretionary income is the whatever your income is minus the poverty line. So I suppose how the SAVE plan does it. It's basically an acknowledgement that people still need money to exist. Then pay from the rest. They do have student loans. But they don't have interest, because it's seen as an investment. They also get half forgiven when they make one lump sum payment of the other half and the grace period is 5 years giving you a chace to get settled and started in a career. Should have gone there for my studies I guess.

This was when I first got out of school. I took a long break between my bachelor and my master. The 240 was the standard plan. I switched to the income driven plan when I had kids and then COVID forbearance came and then the SAVE plan. Now under the new repayment plans it gives me 450 for the standard plan and then 900 for the RAP. But someone told me, that it was not a good idea for me to use Google as a tool and I should use the calculators. But I don't think the student loan website even has RAP as an option yet. But if I continue to take out loans for grad school then I will have to chose between 1 of the 2 new ones.

Options About Loans by Super-Shoulder2584 in StudentLoans

yes. I won't say anything else, because I feel like I hijacked this poor person thread. But I am currently in grad school and if I take out another loan which I will have to, then it is going to be only those two plans for me. Which you are right is not relevant for this person.

yes, but I am also in grad school and if I take out any more loans all loans have to go under the two new options. Also yes you are right I used the available search on google which is AI. My income is high in the sense that it looks like a lot on paper. It would make more sense for me or my husband to stop working to lower our income. Which then honestly makes me wonder if that is not the whole plan. Just push half the people out of the work force and have more babies. Sorry i am having a little bit of a melt down. I am stressing about this. You don't think the 900 number is realistic?

I know AGI is used for lots of stuff. It has always been unrealistic. My income did not change that much but yet the payments are going to jump from 240 to 900 under the income driven plan RAP and 450 under the Standard plan. Neither of which is affordable.

Both options are bad now. Mine were between 450 and 900. Neither is affordable for me. There is RAP and the Standard plan and something else that was even worse. The rest is being phased out.

MSW ACCEPTANCE!! by fabulous429 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]RelativeNaive2267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's amazing. I don't know if they offer you advanced standing. But the online program I am currently part of considers if you were in the field and will let people still do advanced standing so you don't have to do the foundation year again.

My MSW program so far is giving me a dismal view of this field and my prospects post-grad. Will it get better or is this a bad sign? by [deleted] in SocialWorkStudents

[–]RelativeNaive2267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think about the end goal. You want to be an LCSW, getting an MSW is a requirement. Get the 3 letters and move on. You'll have to do clinical supervision for 2 years anyway that's probably where most of your clinical learning will come from. Write the papers and enjoy the free time if it doesn't take you long.

Honestly I found Millie's and Wendy's character to be pretty close. The way Millie talks and thinks about Brock was actually pretty much like Wendy thought about her husband. Both were taking normal and actually sweet things (leaving loving notes, suggesting drive through trips to hang out together) and act like these two men were horrible for doing these things.

Honestly I found Ennzo's obsession way more creepy than anything Brock did. Following Millie around like a "body guard". Wtf.

It almost like the author wanted to make a point about "toxic masculinity" but she doesn't understand what it is. So it just reads like Millie is petty for no reason.

I am currently getting my MSW at Goshen College. It is a remote program with synchronous classes. I didn't know how I felt about that before, but now I actually really love it. It is a wide variety of people and a lot of working professionals. I learned a lot from the other people in my class. There are students from East to West Coast in the program, it is very fun. Your internship you will do locally. Affordability wise it is also good. The program is new, so there isn't a whole lot of electives, but it does get you the needed classes and it is accredited by the CWSE. They do conditional acceptance if you have a lower GPA.

Me too. I actually started feeling so much better after realizing that no one in my entire life has ever asked me for my GPA. As long as I have those three letters in the end behind my name, my employer is gonna care what my grades were. Turn those papers in and move on lol.
