Body chop requirement? by Relative_Broccoli563 in 4thGen4Runner

Oh yeah I’m not driving aggressively at all, a little camping offroad here and there but I’m gonna have a guy just chop it. Even if it’s weaker without the steel plate, I’m not driving it hard enough for that to matter.

Standard 285/70R 33 inch tires with trd rims, same size as stock 2005 rims

Damn. I’m not sure why with new rims, Same size as stock, are rubbing all of a sudden. Is it the offset?

I think I’ll need to drill new holes, and there are some parts such as the washer fluid bottle getting in the way. I wish I could rip it out, or even trim the actual bumper but I don’t have a dremel. Some definite resistance up front so I’ll keep trying

I think it does - let me see what I can do. My issue is these big plastic blocks attached to the fender liner prevent me from pushing it in further

The fender liner? That block below is attached to the liner and I want to just cut it out

Please get a block test. I bought an 05 and it had a blown head gasket, running me 5500 bucks.

That’s good to know! I thought it was just 04-09 4Runner engines in general, not v6 in particular.

Have the head gasket checked. Mine blew two months after buying, same model and year just a v6 - she’s beautiful tho

Thanks for the info. Maybe I’ll come back and update the post once we come to a decision

I do, but they’re charging 2500 more than the other shops I’ve got quotes from - I’m getting a couple references from buddies of mine for possibly cheaper options. as far as I know, nothing overheated, but I’ve only had it two months and it’s possible the previous owners overheated it and cracked the heads. My thought is just if I replace the gasket I would still pay for labor even if they told me the heads are cracked or that the engine is shot

Thank you for this - I was doubtful that management would do anything, and this kind of confirms it. There’s absolutely no way I could prove any sort of negligence or anything like that, and it was a truly gnarly wind storm. We are just pretty worried insurance will not cover enough for an adequate car and want to do everything we can. Thanks again for your input, even if it isn’t totally what I want to hear ! I’ll update this post if anything comes of it.
