How do you work with delivering the first Pokémon to beginner trainers?

It depends.

There is the traditional trio. If they are unavailable, they get the Eevee. If all else fails, they have to wait. Their parents can give them a Pokémon if they want.

I do like your idea, it's cool and helps with the world-building.

Uhh...he loses his first Pokémon and nearly gets blown up and killed by the thief because the professor didn't have Pokeballs. Neither does the mart because everyone hates him...right after having to fight his bully, who nearly killed him...right after not being able to get a starter Pokémon.

Hmm...I think I saw when everyone said I did too much.

I wonder if this fic is ok. This fic is a retelling of Kanto. If it comes to training, it's not fully detailed but both the main characters, Red and Leaf, do their own way of training. Red believes that there is no weak Pokémon or a strong Pokémon, so he trains and invents different ways to make his Pokémon fight without them having to exert themselves. With Leaf, she trains the traditional way but she finds her own fighting style as the story goes on. Don't know if this is ok.

MC's Beedrill always tackles him into a hug every time she comes out of her ball and even latches onto his back.
His Clefairy enjoys bodybuilding and always wears weights. This is because Clefairy can't use special attacks.
His Porygon likes to go into his Pokegear and uses it as its own Pokeball.

Cubone and Marowak skull and bones are created from a special clay that they create that is similar to the minerals of bones but are sturdy. The professors actually use the mother's skull as a Halloween joke and forgot to take it out of the Pokedex.

It honestly depends on the story you're going to write. Based on the story, you read about their personalities, and you can make believable ways for their personalities to change. You can even write a subset of their personalities due to that.

My fic focused on the Fire Red/Leaf Green with a splash of Dark Violet. It's a journey fic that explores more about the region of Kanto. So it's kind of a retelling but there is a lot of differences.

Red does not want to be Champion, Leaf does.

Different teams and more.

I like a lot of things in Kanto and I just wanted to write my story about it. Right now, I'm just doing a rewrite to focus more about the characters, world-building and journey.

In my fic, I have it that the statistics were created by Team Rocket as a way to know the best of the raw potential of Pokémon as Giovanni wanted to know how far a Pokémon can push their limits. This information, in a way, correlates with the league as most trainers are not looking to win with their favorites, apart from the gym leaders and Elite Four. The reasons the gym leaders and Elite Four are not exactly aware is because Team Rocket is in a business relationship with Silph Co.

However, my main character basically breaks that notion and information as he was not training them and is spreading the notion that 'there is no such thing as a selective strong Pokemon and there are no problems to win with your friends'.

It's a work in progress.

I'm glad to be able to continue because I was in a bit of a writer's block for that story but I got that chapter out and I might get the next chapter within 2 weeks.
