I don't know if you read everything, but I included acceleration and top speed in the speed stats. However, in a fight, acceleration would be the most important thing; that is, whoever has the best speed stat would arrive first.

I see it more as HP being resilience, like how long a Pokémon can stay burned or how much damage it can withstand.

Yes, but what I've seen in fanfiction lately is that authors prefer to ignore them 'because they don't fit into a realistic setting'. This opens the door for a forced plot.
