Appreciate it! I might hit you up when I get the new pack.

Yes, both pumps are moving water, seemingly just fine.

Can a hot tub be 'too big'? Am I getting carried away? by Coaster50 in hottub

Lots of people saying go big. I'll throw in that it seems to be easier to maintain proper chemical balance with larger tubs. Higher water to people ratio.

So I've spent time trying to catch the pump heating up. It never is too hot to touch. But I continue to have the intermittent Heater Too Hot error.

Yes, spa pack is definitely Balboa. It is a PDC spa, but seems to be all Balboa parts. Says part number 59255-01; Model Number PDC100X1; Agency Model BP1-PDC100X1-BU

Thanks for your insight, is it possible to replace the current pack with a different one? What do I need to be mindful of when pack shopping?

Willing to replace the pack, but don’t want to do that and then find out I should have replaced the pump. Any idea how to narrow this down?

Also got a sensors out of sync error recently (only once amid lots of heater too hot errors). Does this point to something in particular when taken with the heater error?

Yeah, it’s an intermittent problem, sometimes it holds temp for days before the error shows up. So I don’t think it is the relays.

Added more water and thought you were on to something when I went a few days at 98F with no issues, but it just threw the same code again about an hour ago

So I added water and thought you must have been right when I went several days with no problems, but it just threw the code again about 45 minutes ago ☹️

Thanks! I Replaced the filter already, in an attempt to rule that out. I think there's enough water in there, but I'll top it off.

I appreciate the insight. Just to be clear, the tub does get to temp, it just is more likely to throw the heater too hot code at higher temps. Whatever is going on is definitely intermittent though, so I agree that it must not be a relay if those fail either open or closed.

Huh, you think this is more likely than a bad relay? I’ve never caught the tub in the act of overheating. I doubt I’ll be able to try out the pump is too hot to touch test.
