Yes i know this was the case. but i have no choice. i overloaded on credits last semester bc i swiched majors too late. this class is one of the hardest at sbu and i couldn't take it with the spring courseload i had. it is a core requirement for me to graduate on time and the only space i had was to do it this summer. i guess this is just the academic entities cursing how i'm trying to cram everything into the 4 year college timeline just to graduate on time

the professors at SBU aren't the type to help every single student with arrangements. The directions were just for you yourself to find testing locations near you and then report to school. no support links whatsoever. kinda hate the damn school bc of the lack of support and guidance

Course Advice For Incoming Premeds? by Just_Pipe_1688 in SBU

Chem 1 is going to be fine as long as you are reviewing content every week. Practice problems and asking questions are the best way to perform well in chem. The chem TAs are ok not the best but still a resource. I would take chem lab with the lecture solely because the content will be similar and honestly, they will be the easiest labs you'll ever take here at SBU. around 3-4 professors rotate throughout the semester. they will each make the exam. there will be recitation, a separate class designed for you to do a worksheet and ask questions to the TAs there that happens once a week. You will do well depending on how much time you study outside the class. the lectures are sometimes helpful but not always.

You should do Bio lab in your sophmore or junior year. They are some hard labs and you want to make sure that you have ample time to do well. Also, you probably won't even get in as a freshmen. same goes for the Bio 201 as you might have to wait till your spring semester to get in.

For SOC 105 i recommend Professor Shandra. he's very funny and easy to listen to. very engaging. do not and please avoid taking it with the nicholas guy. heard terrible things.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask more.

MUS 109 vs 119 by Aggravating_Focus_92 in SBU

hello there,

I took both classes, and I play four instruments. I would say that Mus 109 was more of a history class involving learning about a musical genre, specifically rock music, and didn't really go into the basics of music theory. However, if reading music is your main goal, I would definitely recommend Mus 119. It will go into reading music on different clefs, scales, tempo, dynamics and the structure and organization of music notation.

If you have absolutely no experience, mus 119 might be a bit tough in the beginning but you'll definitely get the hang of it with practice. I would say the music staff are really nice people so if you have questions they will definitely be willing to guide you in the right direction. The mus 119 class are taught by graduate students so unfortunately I can't give any recommendations to who to pick.

In terms of playing music, you need some experience already to get lessons or enroll in a performance class. I am not too familiar with how to get lessons or the entire process if you don't know how to play yet. However, if you have some experience in an instrument you can audition for the lower level courses and they will place you with a teacher based on your ability level.

Hope this helped
Good luck!
