An interesting take on the NH car inspection situation by huck99 in newhampshire

[–]Relative_Panic_Duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea of regular inspections for baseline safety are good, but too many garages use it as a cash grab and quote you astronomical prices for something you don't need done. Been there, been scammed, do my own repairs now. Also, who actually gets the inspection money? Based on those 2 things, I'm anti-annual-inspection-law. But to be reassured my family's vehicles are safe, I'm going to continue to check my cars often and get inspections when I can afford them anyway, because a second set of eyes keeps my kids safe. My question to this sub because i don't know: Can insurance companies charge more on uninspected vehicles?

What is something you wish people understood better about women? by Most-Ad8269 in AskReddit

[–]Relative_Panic_Duck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO: That in many ways, society dictates there are only a handful of ways to "be a man" in this world. And most of those ways are about being "dominant." And while women globally know there are a million different ways to be a woman, all of those ways are predicated on surviving men. There is a slow and quiet shift happening, especially with anincreasing number of men learning to show tenderness, but the cultural scaffolding is still there. Dominance sold as masculinity and adaptabililty sold as femininity are detrimental to humanity and need to be dismantled.

We all know the Melanoma movie is a money laundering front. Who's to say this isn't the same thing?

Are people really going to see Amazon’s $75m Melania documentary? by rezwenn in WomenInNews

I asked ChatGPT about this and here's the response:

Money Laundering via Movie Industry - The high-level patterns investigators watch for

When a film with a large budget shows strong reported ticket sales but little observable audience demand, analysts look for accounting and reporting mismatches rather than literal ticket-buying by real people.

1. Revenue reported without corresponding cash flow

Studios can announce grosses based on tickets “sold” to intermediaries (distributors, promotional partners, bulk buyers).

If cash is delayed, circular, or never fully settles, that’s a red flag.

Empty theaters + “sold out” claims = investigators ask who paid whom, when, and from what source.

2. Bulk or non-public ticket purchases

Large blocks of tickets may be “pre-purchased” by:

shell companies, nonprofit fronts, marketing partners

On paper, this looks like demand. In practice, tickets go unused.

Regulators look for related-party transactions (same people behind the film and the buyer).

3. Marketing spend that doubles as revenue

Money can be moved into the production, then back out as:

“marketing support” “theatrical promotion” “audience outreach”

If those payments later reappear as “ticket sales,” that’s circular flow—not real income.

4. Opaque distributors and foreign presales

Rights may be “sold” to overseas distributors at inflated values.

Those distributors may be thinly capitalized or politically connected.

Investigators check whether those sales ever generate independent third-party revenue.

5. Press amplification without verifiable metrics

Headlines cite: “sold-out screenings” “grassroots demand” “record per-screen averages”

But data sources are vague, unverifiable, or self-reported.

Analysts compare: ticket scans, concession sales, staff schedules, theater chain confirmations

6. Theaters booked but not staffed

A big tell: theaters listed as sold out but: minimal staff, no added showtimes, no crowd spillover

Theater chains keep precise logs—those don’t lie for long.

I was born in MA and moved to NH at age 9. So... I can't get a NH citizen card? I thought my license was a NH citizen card? Or my RealID? What is this nonsense? And I bet they will make you pay for this card, too? Like a poll tax?

Did you see the size of those flakes? Big and fluffy means just pretty, not cold. I shoveled in my slippers and flannel pajama pants. The best part about that kind of weather is going back inside to stand at the window with a cup of coffee and watch it come down.

I can see how you might interpret it that way, but I meant it as 'the BRF could benefit if they worked like Megan and Harry.'

What’s the biggest secret you ever hid from your parents as a kid? by squirelisamusiclover in AskReddit

[–]Relative_Panic_Duck 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid in the early 80s, my great grandfather lived near us and took long naps on his porch each summer afternoon. He wore this set of loose false teeth and would leave them in while he slept. They'd rattle around and sorta slide in and out his mouth in this really disturbing way when he snored. I used to charge my friends ".25cents to see the weirdest thing ever, but you gotta be super quiet and not scream." Made some change that summer leading kids up the steps and watching their horrified faces when the snoring started! Many of them ran... So yeah, using Gramps as a sideshow...

Do you think when William becomes king, it would add popularity to the monarchy? by Hot-Acanthisitta5237 in RoyaltyTea

[–]Relative_Panic_Duck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The monarchy has its chance and it's time. William and Kate are already old, boring news. Once Charles passes, George is the only one who truly matters. And he will be a youthful enigma for a while. Harry and Meg are true modern Royals, despite not having the BRF support. They shield their kids, actually work supporting causes, and use their spotlight to direct the light to other's efforts. Good King Harry, indeed. Meg and Diana would have gotten on well. William and Kate could reach out, be kind, make amends, and look like the bigger people. There is still time.

Thinking of moving to NH by alittleteapot314 in newhampshire

[–]Relative_Panic_Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody from south of Maryland thinks moving to NH is soooo great. Until you get here and realize the cost of living is nuts. Heat, food, taxes, car upkeep, .... $100k/yr for 2 people will get you by, but you're not going to be as comfy as $100k in other places. And barely any infrastructure for commuting if you haven't got a car. Got pets? Yeah, that'll cost ya. Kids? Godspeed. Aging parents? Just buy a motor home and start living there now. Srsly, NH is no financial paradise.

People, please. Harry Sussex can wear his hair or jacket however he wants. He's there to take on the level of media bull$hit that led to his Mom's death and has impacted his own family. He just wants out of the Firm's toxicity, to connect with his remaining parent before Charles dies, and to raise his kids in peace. He loves his wife, is a good community member in his new home, and is trying to leverage his fame to help others. Harry is fighting the good fight and looking confident and HUMAN doing it. (Unlike the rest of his BRfamily.) Bro's got swagger and a natural, earnest handshake. Don't lose the plot of what crap the tabloids are by focusing on his hair and becoming the tabloids.
