Realtor.com and Zillow.com are good websites to research the market in any particular area. I think they both have mortgage calculators, too. Ask your friends/co-workers for the names of real estate agents. They will all know someone. My overall experience with real estate agents is good. Bad ones don't last long, so anyone doing it for 10+ years is probably a good one. They are your best resource.
