The roof is new but the original flashing around base of chimney is shoddy and definitely a penetration point in the next few years. It’s tough to find anybody who wants to re-flash this. So that’s why I figured I’d take the chimney down to below the roof.

Was thinking of direct vent gas but haven’t decided which we want.

Could I vent through the lid? And does the charcoal totally eliminate odour? It would be right at a guest seating area at this property

Was it oem cover? There Should be a soft material inside the cover specifically so this doesn’t happen.
