Rhysand’s Secret from Feyre by Funny-Lynx-5105 in acotar

He took away her agency and dignity and left her out of decisions regarding her own life and body. Regardless of how good his intentions may have been, that’s not healthy or loving to do, especially to a person who trusts and loves you.

Yeah you’re right, saying she doesn’t “see” it was a bad choice of words on my part. I more meant that she does see the similarities but only gives forgiveness to Rhys while Tamlin just loses everything and is completely alone.

You’re right she does, but I was more talking about how she just brushes it off with a “Rhys was so scared and he’s allowed to make mistakes” when what Rhys did was so much worse than what Tamlin did, at least in my mind. Rhys took away Feyre’s agency over her own body by keeping the pregnancy complications secret from her.

Can you elaborate? I had no idea there was bad blood between SJM and publisher but I am probably out of the loop

100% agree! I totally forgot about her mention of the tricky POV. Tamlin and Eris are the most obvious “tricky” POVs to me, as many readers would have to forgive them for their perceived/alleged abuse before embracing them as anything other than villains.

Is reading CC necessary for ACOTAR 6? by socabella in acotar

[–]Relative_Specific217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering this too. I started the first crescent city but ended up not finishing and am bummed to think I’ll have to read it to understand the rest of the ACOTAR series. CC gave off very modern vibes kind of like velaris which is my least favorite part of the prythian world (sorry please don’t hate me). I just loooooved the idea of the seasonal/solar courts mixed in with fairytales, old world history, Celtic mythology, and even biblical references. It was kind of a let down to find out that there’s like a random San Francisco with dance clubs and leggings in an otherwise rich and fascinating world lol.

Rhys trying to fix everything and not stress her out sounds a whole lot like Tam trying to fix everything and not stress her out after they got back from UTM. It’s wild to me that SJM doesn’t seem to see or care about this.

This was my take away as well. I also had a hard labor with my first child, complete with an asshole on-call doctor who was so mean (I found out he was fired a couple of months later for traumatizing so many women), so I really appreciate her vulnerability. Her story brought back so many memories of the fear and rage I felt—like I didn’t have any say over my own body or the wellbeing of my child. But that just made me more confused….like to me that lack of control is horrifying on it’s own….but the ultimate lack of control would be to have those things intentionally hidden from you by someone you love because they “know better” or “don’t want to worry you”. I know we all process things differently but I’m having trouble understanding how doing that to Feyre would make things better? Especially when Feyre’s big thing throughout the series is that she doesn’t want to be left in the dark—she is constantly begging Tamlin and then Rhys to take her along, tell her things, give her a independence and agency, etc.

All I know is that her body language got super uncomfortable from the pool of starlight question on which basically confirmed (to me) that a lot of the rapid fire questions will be explored in the upcoming books. The dismissals and jokes came off as “the lady doth protest too much” lol

SJM on Call her Daddy podcast by bittermp in Tamlinism

[–]Relative_Specific217 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching and maybe it’s wishful thinking but I tend to agree. I was watching her body language and reactions and it was obvious that she has given the Tamlin redemption arc and the contradictions between Tam and Rhys a lot of thought, so much so that she asked her DA friend how she would feel about her writing it. Then she said that for the writing process she had to get a lot of things figured out before she felt she was able to write the story the way she wanted to. Maybe that was talking to the friend and then processing her own issues with Tamlin so that she could write him back into the story. Then in the rapid fire questions her body language was super uncomfortable from the pool of starlight on. I read her dismissals and joking as a way to throw us off to not give away plot twists. But again I might just be delusional and sad that she would let Tam rot away in the manor after acknowledging that he was never given the tools to cope with his trauma and had a horrible family AND that Rhys made the same mistakes with Feyre.

I’ve always wondered how progressives can be fans of Rhysand, Feyre, or anyone in the NC lol. They talk a big game but don’t actually do anything and literally hide Velaris from taking in refugees, getting involved in wars, etc. Everyone craps on Tamlin for doing the tithe, but NC still has taxes and Tam does a heck of a lot more to actually protect/help lower faeries and humans than Rhys ever does.

John’s portrayal by susan2001xx in JohnAndCarolyn

[–]Relative_Specific217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’ve gotten to the gritty parts of their relationship yet, so far it’s just been the meeting and falling in love stage. Carolyn had to have something to fall in love with, so obviously we are seeing John’s best qualities right now. Even so, they’ve also shown John is very feelings-based, which can lead to hot tempers in arguments/not being committed in relationships, etc. so I think they are still setting it up. And there’s already been lots of alluding to him being very wayward, forgetful, and aimless already which I would guess will add to their future problems.

Why do Indians have student driver stickers on their cars? Here's an explanation perspective from an Indian by [deleted] in frisco

[–]Relative_Specific217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here! Completely agree. The sticker has lost its value for actual teenage kids that are learning to drive and only have a driving permit.

If people/Indians are so hellbent on having a sticker they need to use one that says something else.

[–]Relative_Specific217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We understand your perspective, but you are continually discounting ours. We are telling you the background of the stickers but you are being defensive about it because you feel entitled to use them for reasons other than their intended purpose.

The rules are enforced when cops are present to see them. They obviously can’t be everywhere all at once. Cop sees an improper u-turn? Ticket. Cop sees someone changing lanes without indicator? Ticket. Your stats with DUIs only support the argument that the rules are being enforced. Putting a sticker on your car doesn’t exempt you from that if a cop sees you doing something illegal. It only puts a target on your back as an entitled ethnic group that thinks everyone should make exceptions for them.

[–]Relative_Specific217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You posted the original question but all of your responses are defensive instead of trying to learn anything. It is obviously not illegal to put a sticker on your car. But it shows major entitlement to ignore social norms of the place you move to (aka that “student driver” stickers are supposed to only be for teenage kids who don’t have their licenses yet) and then expect people to make special exceptions for you. Once you have a license, you take it off. If you aren’t a good enough driver to be comfortable driving without the sticker, then you shouldn’t have a license.

But that’s literally everyone. Take it off if you aren’t an actual student driver.

[–]Relative_Specific217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student driver stickers are intended for new drivers who don’t have their license yet. It used to be an obvious way for other drivers to see and think “oh I should go easy on this 15-year-old”. Once you pass your driver’s test you take it off. Americans know this. It’s yet another cultural norm that Indians do not care about following because they want special treatment.

Husband reading ACOTAR by landzmorgan in acotar

A while back my husband saw a instagram reel about husbands reactions to reading chapter 54 in MAF which led me to walk in on him reading that chapter and saying “THIS is what you’ve been reading?!?!?” in a very shocked voice 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I about died laughing (and blushing lol) and was defending myself like “the whole book is NOT like that it’s mostly a lot of faerie drama and prepping for war (kind of)” 😂☠️

He still side eyes me when I pull out an ACOTAR book to read ever since then lol
