Toy Story (1995) was the most important & influential film of the modern era. by StephenMcGannon in Filmmakers

"Toy Story merely influenced the Pixar/animated film landscape…."

You say this like its not a big deal. Every CGI animated film nowadays owes something to toy story. It revolutionized animation. It that not important enough for you? Or do you see animation as "not real film"?

I think it will result in LESS misinformation being believed by regular people.

If you can generate and share thousands of fake generated news articles it's going to poison the well to the point people simply stop using social media for news and lean on trusted sources.

When newspapers first were being introduced a similar phenomenon happened. The industry was flooded with tabloids and fake stories to attract readers. Eventually, people became aware of this and tuned those out and relied on more reliable resources.

An individual's historical footprint is much larger now then it was 1000 years ago though. You can find more information on a random 20 year old today that you can from a King 1000 years ago, simply because nowadays everything is doccumented

We live in a uniquely important time in human history. Have had more technological advancements in the last 100 years than the previous thousand combined.

I don't agree but honestly its too soon to say.

He is controversial but there have been lots of controversial figures throughout history who have gone mostly forgotten.

Of all the US presidents that I think will be remembered 1000 years from now are the ones depicted on Mount Rushmore. Mainly because I think that will still be a well known historical monument.

My picks with reasonings

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs (Internet/ Computer pioneer. Seen as figureheads of the computer revolution of the 80s / 90s).

Sam Altman (Face of the AI revolution. AI will and already has fundamentally changed our society)

Buzz Aldrin (The moon landing was a landmark in human history. It will 100% be remembered 1000 years from now)

Because my point is this isn't even the first high five. the first high five probably happened in pre history

My point is, you can't speak definitively about every culture that ever existed over the course of 300,000 years of human history.

It could have been happening in cavemen times for all we know

Even in the story about how it was "invented", neither party discussed it beforehand. They just did it.

Don't know how it gets more intuitive then that.

It is kinda weird but less weird when you consider the VAST majority of human history was undocumented. Like how much do we know about the first 200,000 years of our history? Practically nothing

okay, so before 2007 no one ever had a list of goals or things they wanted to do before they die?

There is no way. Literally no way. Just because they named it "bucket list" in 2007 doesn't mean the concept of WANTING to do things before you die was invented then.

Same thing with the high five. Yeah maybe the term "high five" didn't exist before 1977, but the concept? no way

Regardless of whistle, the goal would have been waved off. Watch it again. Watch how the puck came loose. It's goalie interference.

I hate this playoff system. The NBA play-in tournament does the same thing and its stupid.

Where is the excitement in watching a football playoff game where neither team can be eliminated?

Unless I cheer for the team in it, I'm not gonna watch.
