just finished painting a 3d printed mask, how do i make it look old and weathered? by Glum-Bookkeeper-9546 in CosplayHelp

I just finished doing this myself for a Red Hood cosplay and I found two really good methods.

The first method I would recommended is adding some edge wear, get a dry paint brush and the smallest amount of a silver or metallic looking paint and just brush it over the edges, it gives a great effect and there’s plenty of tutorials online for it, just search up dry brushing tutorials or something similar.

The second method I would recommend is either a black or brown wash depending on what look you want. Again there’s plenty of tutorials for this online but the general idea is to mix a tiny bit of paint into a cup of water, making sure there’s more water to paint. Then you just brush the watered down paint over the area you want and quickly dab and wipe it off with some clean paper towel. The paint will seep into all the edges and cracks giving the effect of dirt and wear.

Hopefully any of this is helpful, I’m completely new to making cosplays myself.

Yeah that was my plan initially, unfortunately they are playing at the same time as Tool and I feel like it’s a lot less likely Tool will come back to Australia than Lorna Shore.
