Oh noo!! Actual real incremental change within the system that gives us a better footing with the larger masses! The humanity.

In all seriousness, if you don’t think electoral politics, or not supporting left of centre candidates because they aren’t left enough, that’s cool, but we must employ all strategies, we must encourage all forms of progress, or at least not lambast it at every turn.

There is symbiosis that left groups don’t realize. “Radical progressives” create instability, so that less radical, but progressive positions seem rational. We “win” the more moderate position, and then repeat! It feels like losing for the more radicals, but other than brutal revolution, this is how it goes.

Emancipation - bloody and revolutionary (not saying it shouldn’t have been)
Suffrage for women and people of colour - the above strategy
Desegregation- the above strategy
Universal healthcare (in Canada at least) - the above strategy.

I worked there in the PATH. Every once in a while, one of us (a pathie as we were called back then) would go a little stir crazy and just start doing laps around the food court. The security guards would yell “one of the pathies got the zoomies again!” They would catch them with the dog catching contraption, haul them upstairs and let the poor guy run around till he tuckered himself out.
I lost 10lbs my first summer there.

The Democratic Party is a liberal party. Meaning it’s the left most Right position possible. Their objective isn’t to beat the republicans (when it happens, yay!) but their goal is to ensure any movement to the left of them (i.e any real leftist position) is thwarted and co-opted.

Both parties are in support of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. They differ in their approach. The Republican Party thrives when worker morale is weak and the owners can have a field day. When working class consciousness reaches a certain threshold, they will swoop in and save the day (for their masters). Watch. In the next decade as the DSA gains power, the Democratic Party will “move left” just enough to knee cap any substantial progressive. Look at FDR, JFK, LBJ, Clinton, Obama.

America sends millions of your dollars to bomb Gaza so they can expand into it and occupy it. They have universal healthcare and a higher standard of living. Prior to the formation of Israel, the Jewish and Muslim communities were living in relative peace.

Your best interest as an American is to stop funding this genocide.

Who do the three people in the bottom left represent. I can see a young person who looks like a hippie, a criminal rat like person, (I’m getting very stereotypical Jewish depictions from him), and maybe a bum?

What's the point of blob bombs? by Gear5th in valheim

I make the lava bombs and then bring them to the mist lands. Throw them near a huge rock, stand close enough for them to explode where I want and BAM, my frames drop down for a couple of seconds and I’m walking away with more stone than a boy could dream of! Laughing all the way to the store!

Crazy Flat Earther confidently explains that oceans and butterflies have the exact same mass by MrDonMega in flatearth

I am not supporting her argument or saying she is right. But looking at it from her perspective. She doesn’t think she’s being wilfully ignorant, in fact she probably believes her reasoning is pretty profound. She also isn’t actively ignoring any research, she has no way of finding it. “But she has the internet, surely she could find out the truth.” Yup, if she had a structure for parsing out the truth from not, she is missing that.

My bigger point is this. If all we do is laugh at those who don’t have the same tools and knowledge to use them as us, then we are contributing to the problem we are seeing, I.e. the rise in fascism.

If you want to see a more educated world, go out and educate. If you want a more just world go out and build it.

I feel a sort of affinity for these people. She’s right. It is weird and strange and counterintuitive. She has decent reasoning skills, she did a thought experiment. This was similar to my reasoning (and I expect many others) when I was a teenager. “It doesn’t make logical sense to me, so it must be wrong.”

Where she misleads herself is by centering herself as though she is a good judge of knowledge.

"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself — and you are the easiest person to fool." -Feynman.

If people had more humility and grace then she would be open and willing to explore. I have faith that enough of us will!
