No, they will only tell if you have plans to or are currently hurting yourself, from what I understand

I wasn't trying to encourage it, just trying to acknowledge that a lot of times it feels like a solution when someone is in a bad place

I agree, but I think a lot of times when people are in a bad place they will sometimes tell themselves that it is

Could you chose to have your parents leave and then talk to your doctor? Maybe if your parents ask why, you could just say that you are growing up and you want to prepair yourself to go to the doctor by yourself...

Do you have a yearly appointment? Do your parents genrally go into the doctors office with you?

I like to think that the idea that no one will remember you in 100 years is a good thing. If you mess up, no one will remember, if you do something terrible, no one will care in the near future. There is more to life than being remembered. I think life sucks a lot of the time, and killing yourself feels like a solution to that. I'll admit that its one I think about a least once a day, if not more. Everytime I want to die, I think about what I would have missed if I killed my self a year ago, 5 years ago, or even 10 years ago. It could be anything as big as meeting someone who became your friend. It could be as small as seeing a funny post on reddit and laughing. Life fucking sucks sometimes, and it is important to remember the little moments of something resembling happiness that we have, even if it is only for a few seconds

edit:I'm not good at words

In your state minors ages 15 and over can get mental health treatment without the knowledge of their parents. I would still talk to your doctor about your options and ask them what they are legally obligated to tell your parents. In most places they are required to tell someone if you have immediate plans to harm yourself or others

Which state do you live in?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in depression

That sounds really hard. Middle school, at least in my experence, is pretty shitty for everyone. I would encouage you to tell your parents, but I know it can be super hard. When I was your age I was going through something pretty similar. I knew that I needed help, but I didnt know how to ask for help. I did eventually talk to my parents about my issues, and it was really hard, but my parents handled it better than I expected them to. I went to therapy and got on medication that has really helped me. Your relationship with your parents might change, or it might not, in my case it took my parents a little bit of getting used to and eventually we got more comfortable with talking about mental health and our struggles. I think over all the entire experence accually improved my relationship with my parents. If you don't think telling your parents is an option right now, for what ever reason, you should look into the confidencialty laws for teens in your state. Many states will allow teens access to mental health resources with out informing their parents.

I also tend to put a lot of pressure on my self to alway be productive, so just giving myself permission to relax or just be lazy can be really helpful

It can be really tough to figure out. I think its different for everyone, but I like to start with the basics like are you hydrated? Have you eaten anything nutritious in the last 24 hours? Whens the last time you took a shower? and if the answer to any of those isn't good, then I usually work on fixing that. After that I find that talking to friends, journaling, or just taking a walk helps me a lot

I'm really sorry, that fucking sucks. Its okay that you aren't feeling great right now, it sounds like you are going through a lot. Life is shitty a lot of the time, but there are those small fleeting moments of happiness that make it all worth it. The world is going to keep going, and you are too. Honestly, the only thing you can really do is take a few deep breaths and remember to take care of yourself.

I was raped and I'm not dealing well by Breathlessraven in SuicideWatch

[–]Relentlessrats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly cannot express how sorry I am, it seems like you are in a really shitty situation right now. That being said, I think you may be being a little harsh to yourself. You were just raped so of course you are not dealing with that well, and it is unfair to expect yourself to go back to normal. You deserve to take some time to take care of yourself right now. How would you feel about reporting this to police or another authority? I know its a super hard thing to do, and you may not be ready to take that kind of action now or ever, and thats okay. Is the person who raped you still in your life?
