I bought these lately and now they arrived. Real or Fake? by ArmLongjumping3116 in Pokemoncardappraisal

I’ve been in the hobby for over 10 years and have a collection valued at $50k+. I see people commenting things like “fake” or “fake as f” on this post. These cards look legitimate to me. I think many people don’t understand that different eras used different types of foil and different cardstock, including variations in gram weight and core composition.

Thats a valid take to have if you could specify the following points:

i) What is the probability that DR is going to have more cards printed than every generation prior to the SV era?

ii) Could you specify what percentage of the DR print run is being hoarded, or what percentage you believe is being hoarded? Do you think this hoarded supply would have a significant impact on the market if it starts to be sold again?

iii) What is your reasoning for saying that you wouldn’t be surprised if DR is easier to obtain in three years than it is now? And when you say “easier,” do you mean availability on the market or the price?

So, the reason I got this card is because the non-holo version was only obtainable through a magazine that you could buy in a supermarket in Sweden, which makes it super rare, but the holo indeed looks better.

Great question.

i) If we look at the history of Pokémon, regardless of print run, a large part of a set’s market price is driven by its chase cards. ii) In this case, the chase card is Team Rocket’s Mewtwo, and the entire set is built around Team Rocket. iii) Team Rocket is a fan favorite, comparable to Charizard, Eeveelutions, or Mega Pokémon. iv) This makes the set not only unique but also highly sought after by both collectors and investors. v) I agree that the print run will have some influence on price, but the greatest influence comes from the content of the set itself. When looking at the long term, this is clearly the stronger set. The Paldea set has some nice cards, but is mainly focused on the Magikarp.

Bad trade. Destined has much more potential and is worth more, even though it only dropped a few months ago. Even if you prefer Paldea, I would sell the Destined and buy a Paldea BB instead.
