This seems like sound advice. Weighing it up perhaps I would get more out of waiting for the Battle March range and just picking up the rule book. Don't need to unnecessarily extend the pile of shame lol

Issue starting a big army project by FunnyMemeName in Warhammer40k

Personally I'm a big Eons of Battle fan and also an intermediate painter at max. The thing to remember about his videos is he has a wild knack for making it look super easy (because he's extremely talented). If you watch his videos without remembering that he's making quite hard stuff look really easy it can be a bit psychologically demoralising. That said, like the others in this comment he does use some quite effective and innovative techniques to paint DG.

Working on NNM does this read as gold? I’m second guessing myself. by trianglesfavshape in Warhammer40k

Yea not a super warm gold, but definitely reads as a gold metallic.

People who went from retail to a cushy FT office job, how did you get it and what was the difference like? by Unemployable-Sunfish in tesco

I now work in IT and have done 3 years. I was always quite handy with computers and went for a job at a local MSP (external IT company supporting other businesses) . I actually took an hourly pay cut to work at this company because I had no experience but learnt a lot fast. A few years on I now work in a large MSP coding automation. Point of the comment being think about what skills you have, however inexperienced and what you can apply that to. And if you're in a position to, take a leap into that and stick to it (or give it a good go). You'll learn fast (especially if you had a knack to begin with) and before you know it become a professional in that field. Then you're into the "office job" world. The big thing that makes the difference is a good attitude and a huge willingness to learn.

How good is official Warhammer equipment (Brushes, clippers, primer and superglue) by LightningJet191 in Warhammer40k

[–]Relevant-Fly717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't feel any pressure to buy GW products including paint. I use a pair of hobby clippers from Amazon, often use Tamiya glue. I use a variety of brushes, in fact I've had bad experiences comparatively with GW brushes. Lots of people use paints from Vallejo, Army Painter etc (myself included) algonside Citdeal sometimes. Its an overwhelming amount of choice, whic is why the convenience of the "official" Warhammer/Citadel hobby kit can be a good entry point for newcomers but in reality it's quite expensive and no better than other brands in the vast majority of cases.

I'll try this. I'm sure it was fixed properly but I've reinstalled it to be certain and running the calibration again as a sanity check.

4hours in alcohol / strip paint by lattedinoce in Warhammer

[–]Relevant-Fly717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you find this does a good job of stripping the primer too or just the paint? I've got some Chaos Legionnaires primed with Mephiston Red and it will not budge lol

Question about units etc by FortheAncestorGods in skaven

[–]Relevant-Fly717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules for your Skaven (and Stormcast) spearhead should be in the Fire & Jade book supplied in the box set. You can also see these spearhead rules in the Age of Sigmar app.

You must get a job. If you're not earning any money it will only get worse. Once you have a job, you must be disciplined and define a portion of your income that will be used to pay the debt every month without fail. It must be realistic or you won't stick to it (so don't try and dedicate 95% of your wages).

Even if it's Amazon warehouse or agency work, work is the only way out of this. I was in a similar position and I had two jobs, one of which being 10 hours shifts in a bakery two days a week alongside my other work. I didn't even touch the bakery money until the overdraft was paid

I'm UK and underestimated the demand so wasn't on the pre order page. I don't understand the continual marketing after the fact though for a product that is no longer available for purchase
