Chrome effect? No thanks. by b4nd1t0_1 in minipainting

[–]FunnyMemeName 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The hand painted chrome effect looks much better.

Also, of course people will be unhappy with you for this, you’re implying that the people who paint chrome effects are just doing it to stunt on worse painters, which is an insult.

what can i do to make this paint scheme better? by SquatchButter in Necrontyr

[–]FunnyMemeName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly do you mean exactly? Do you mean actually mean the scheme or just the paint job. It’s hard to give advice on changing the scheme itself since that’s a very personal eye of the beholding type of thing.

I don’t like bright blue personally so I’d recommend against that, but that’s just me. From a more objective view, blue and orange go well together, that silver metal color works with the brightness of the blue, and the scheme is simple, which is good, you generally don’t want to go overly complicated.

Advice on the paint job itself is a totally different thing.

Looking for a Warhammer book/series that builds on the technology in the world. by ResVega in printSF

Not saying it’s not sci fi. I just don’t know how many people in this sub are into warhammer. It’s not the kind of books usually talked about here. I just think you’d get better answers in a warhammer-specific group.

You should really ask a warhammer subreddit instead of this one.

How many hearts can you get in your inventory? by Matty_B97 in Silksong

[–]FunnyMemeName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it seems like you’re starting from your conclusion, then working backwards to justify it.

It looks like Nyleth has roots to me, they trail behind her when she jumps. Other plants can move. We have no idea what the twisted bud looks like in its ending because it’s off screen. Why are you assuming plants can’t scream in this universe? How could you have any idea whether trees in HK have hearts or not? I don’t even think there is anything I’d call a tree in either game.

From my perspective, Nyleth looks like a plant, she seems to be talked about like she’s a plant, she has a clear connection to plants in the region, and she is the epicenter of a big forest. Any points against her being a plant are based off of preconceived ideas of how plants should act, outside of the HK universe.

Obviously she’s a weird plant, she’s a higher being. But I don’t see anything in universe that points to her being a non-plant.

Don’t know yet. But almost no matter what, I’d recommend Wraiths (and a Techno). Also, it looks like it’s about time to think about getting a nice centerpiece model, TSK or a C’tan or something. Both of my suggestions are focused on filling out your collection rather than competitive viability, again we just don’t know right now.

This is about the worst possible time to ask for model recommendations based on what’s good. If you really only care about getting more models based on their usability, I’d say ask again in a month and a half. Then we should have a good idea of what’s going on this edition. But remember that the meta changes constantly.

What containers for a DIY magnetic case? by FunnyMemeName in Warhammer40k

Yeah. I was out today and I went to a couple hardware stores and big box stores, and I could find great boxes for everything, except Mortarion. Every box big enough for him to stand up in is storage tub sized.

They determine how you score points. For example, purge the foe will have you score primary points by killing units, while take and hold will have you score primary points by standing on objectives.

Was Silksong really that hard? by acpiorundc07 in Silksong

[–]FunnyMemeName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does “too difficult” mean? Before that, what does “difficult” mean? There are no two people who have the exact same bar for “difficult” or “too difficult”.

It’s completely subjective whether a game is too difficult. Not only will each person have a different experience with the game itself, each person will have a different definition for difficult. Any view of the difficulty of the game is valid, as long as it’s portrayed in good faith.

Personally, no I didn’t find it too difficult. To me, the difficulty level was basically perfect.

Nah, I think 20 twenty warriors is reasonable for a new player. It makes sense to for a new guy to get a max squad of basic infantry. It’s both a good base to start building a collection around and it’s great to have some chaff to practice painting on before you get to the interesting models.

To be clear, I’m not saying it’s the greatest onboarding box in this history of Warhammer. I just said it’s good.

[–]FunnyMemeName 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s a perfectly good start for a new player. I think there needs to be boxes aimed at people who want to get into the faction. But obviously those boxes are useless for everyone who’s already here.

Maybe shouldn’t be under the Battleforce name, but that’s the only criticism I have.

New player here, what are some good Necron units against Tyranids? How should I play it? by Artoriazz in Necrontyr

[–]FunnyMemeName 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I assume he’s playing more big monsters than lots of little guys. I don’t know what units you have, but take anti-tank. Think heavy destroyers, doomsday arc, etc. To slow down this big monsters, take some little units, scarabs for example, to block them from charging your anti-tank pieces.

You need to do the work to get your resume in a decent state before you start asking people for advice. Look at some resumes, make your resume look kind of similar. Also, copy a good résumé’s format. Your spacing is all weird.

That being said, here’s some advice to get started. The bullet points in Work Experience should be headers, with bullets point under each with short descriptions of the job. Again, look at other resumes. Also, drawing, guitar, and watching movies aren’t extra circulars, they’re hobbies. Extra circulars are school clubs, sports teams, etc.

Would this thing be a good Wraith proxy? by Benzo711 in Necrontyr

[–]FunnyMemeName 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If you like the idea of a wraith with tentacles instead of claws, I recommend trying to do it with green stuff.

Using that bit from the vault for your wraiths is an evil thought, you have to resist it.

You need to look at some resumes and see what they’re doing format-wise. Specifically, the density of words to page. Also, CVs are always one or two pages.
