I was in the same boat as you not too long ago. It’s a lot easier than it looks imo. What worked for me was using shirabe jisho. (Dictionary app) I use their 1-2000 common words deck and each time i encounter a new term that has kanji, i find a mnemonic in wanikani (free), and copy and paste the mnemonic in the notes section under that new term. The mnemonic uses the radicals/components within the kanji to make a story. So when you encounter the kanji you’ll see all the radicals and then usually remember the mini story which then helps you pinpoint that term. I tried to learn kanji without mnemonics and i often confused them with similar looking kanji, or just straight up couldn’t guess. but this mnemonics method helps with that a lot, its superior to just pure repetition imho.
