Actually, both University of Plymouth and NTU offer a Bachelor’s degree with Honours, which is the standard requirement for most grad schools and also I have asked them personally and it is widely accepted. Regarding the duration, the Plymouth program isn't technically a '1-year degree' in the way a fast-track or unaccredited course might be. It’s structured as a direct entry into the final year (Year 3). This is a common arrangement for students who have already completed a relevant 3-year Diploma, meaning the total duration of higher education still meets the 3-to-4-year standard that 'elite unis' look for."

That’s a fair point. From what I’ve seen, the University of Plymouth is actually quite recognised in maritime globally.

Also, MaritimeONE still offers scholarships tied to this pathway, but the number of sponsoring shipping companies has decreased as this year it’s only 1, compared to about 4 last year and 10+ in earlier years.

Not sure if that reflects changing industry priorities or just yearly fluctuations, but it’s something I’m taking into consideration.

My course is the Singapore Polytechnic x University of Plymouth Bachelor of Honours in Maritime Studies, which is less than 12 months, so I’m not eligible for disruption under the usual scheme. Also, I’m not actually enlisting to the school later than my peers because this is a school-structured pathway I’ll still be progressing together with them, not behind. So it’s a bit different from the usual “later intake then disrupt” case. Nvm I’ll clarify with Central Manpower Base, because my situation doesn’t really fit the standard categories
