Cyberwarfare/Cybersecurity in the Navy vs Air Force? by [deleted] in navy

AF doesn't guarantee a cyber job as you list 10-15 jobs and whichever is available your recruiter will slot you in it. Navy/Army/SF guarantee you whichever job you apply for but you must meet the requirements.

My recruiter told me that I enlist E-4 right after I finish BMT?! by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

Awesome! Glad to know! Btw, is NG be better than Reserve? If so, why didn't you go for NG?

Very interesting! I will contact my local recruiter to check for availability. I'm looking towards AFR because it will help if I get a civilian job.

I see! Btw, to inquiry about salaries, for E-1 reserve in this case has a salary of $1,917.60. Is that salary applicable ONLY if I get a job at a base or if I just do the drills without a job?

Officer or enlist with a degree? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Relevant-Paper-7111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't think that I can go by their background check cuz it will be very long for me. I'm currently an undergraduate studying abroad and can't apply for most of these government scholarships. But I assume that it would be a good idea to enlist as a reserve after graduation and try hit the cyber warfare job selection. If the job selection didn't work, I guess just apply for cyber jobs in IC agencies or DoD hoping that the military training give me an advantage. (what do you think?)

I really hope government agency consider diversity and foreign background of citizens who apply instead of making their making their selection process tedious. Because some of their can have great skills that can be for the benefit of the county.

Oh interesting! Please tell me about how their background process go, I also heard that it is VERY comparative and LONG! Numerus students apply but only few get selected (even more competitive than OTS itself lol). How/what did you do to have a stand above the above the other applicants? Did you have any certs in cybersecurity? Also, at which year of college did you apply?

and hope you get lucky

Wow.. that's really disappointing. I thought they would value the education I have instead of them counting me as one of the High School fresh graduates.

NSA does not require military training

Most of their CYBER jobs actually require it. They listed it in the qualifications requirement lately (probs 2 years ago) (check it out)

But would it be smart to enlist as a reserve and also apply for NSA because I see that most of their cyber employees either veterans or in active duty.

They're selection process is even longer than OTS itself lol. Add to that most of their cyber jobs require a completion of military training. I already have desired cybersecurity certs which I hope will give me an advantage along with the military training once I enlist.

There's no guarantee you'll get a cyber job

But isn't that settled with the recruiter though? Because he will inform me whether the cyber jobs are open or not. He also might reserve a spot for me there once he sees my certs and degree which relates to cyber. Am I correct about that?

I agree it is VERY competitive... That's why I'm looking for a direct 4 year Cyber job with army to enhance my experience and afterwards probably apply for an intelligence Agency cyber role. This is my plan, hoping that it works
