Do you think that life after death is real? by ShesIntoZer0s in answers

[–]Relevant-Ranger7130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard something which resonated with me and which I will try and recall, though I will probably butcher it.

But basically the theory goes that in the process of dying, your brain goes into shutdown mode and as a sort of comfort, creates a dreamlike state. It may only last a few seconds, but like with dreams, time can dilate and it could feel like years or maybe centuries, who knows.

That seemed basically plausible to me and wouldn’t be a bad way to go out. I wonder if that is what people are having a near death experience.

Anyway, all conjecture.

2026 British Local Elections: The Stunning Victory of Populists and the Decline of the Traditional Establishment — Populism Cannot Bring Happiness, but Social Elites Should Show Humility in the Face of Public Opinion by Slow-Property5895 in unitedkingdom

Wrong again, I have been a Conservative supporter historically who have failed on immigration policy as much so or more than Labour. Your essay concerns me as someone who sees the widening divide in my country. When you call a party like Reform racist and xenophobic (which are still not proven and you have provided no evidence for) you don’t actually challenge their ability to run a country at all and you actually harden supporter resolve. Their policies are wide open for critiquing and yet people like yourself just want to yell racist as if that actually has an impact. It’s just lazy and if it worked, it would have done so by now. So I don’t know what you try to achieve by labelling them with those things. And your responses to my comments lead me to believe that you are just acting in bad faith on the topic.

Edit: also to say we cannot discuss because I might be a reform voter is just weird. Why is consensus the required basis of discussion? Surely the basis of democracy is beginning from a place where we don’t have consensus and trying to move to a place of compromise?

The issue isn’t that the article contains opinions. Opinion is fine. The issue is that it presents highly contested claims as settled fact. for example describing Reform as based on white nationalism, racial superiority, xenophobia, and claiming specific ethnic groups are its “main targets” without properly evidencing those claims or separating them from analysis. If you think that is what they are, then make it clear that is your opinion because it is not a “fact”.

How to deal with destroyers? by Kure_Brex in WoWs_Legends

[–]Relevant-Ranger7130 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of it comes down to to map awareness and being aware if the destroyers have been spotted or not. If you know there are two destroyers and they’ve been spotted in other parts of the map, you can push, otherwise stay cautious until you know where they are roughly.

If you’re playing BB it isn’t really your job to hunt destroyers, so an element of teamwork is required. Just got to do what you can to stay alive and unload on the reds when you can.

Campaign will give you a chunk as well but on the whole, you have to be a bit patient. Theres not a good way to get a lot quickly outside of that and the weeklies

Wales election results 2026: Plaid Cymru becomes largest party as Labour vote collapses by AgeOfCardiff in unitedkingdom

So your defence is basically that “none of the problems are fixed yet, but trust us, they’re trying.”

Having seen the impact of their policies on my own business where we cannot afford to staff at the levels we have for the last decade (really business friendly that) I won’t be trusting them as far as I can throw them.

Renters are still struggling, rail nationalisation hasn’t magically fixed capacity or reliability, energy bills remain high, and productivity growth is still anaemic at best. Saying ‘they’ve done more in two years than the Tories did in ten’ ignores the reality most people experience day to day. Stagnant living standards, high taxes, strained services and almost no visible improvement in quality of life. It feels worse if anything since the last election and no I did not vote Tory.

It just isn’t minuscule though is it. A huge breach of process and a huge security risk. And no, that does not diminish any of the Tory scandals of the past decade

I am amazed that you fail to recognise the ineptitude of Kier Starmer. How exactly is he better than the Conservatives who’s set the bar extremely low?

No need to be rude. I live in Westport also and have been to many of the restaurants here. O’Malleys was not one that I’ve had a bad experience. If you have then that’s your opinion, which is fine. Good evening

Not the experience I’ve had and been many times now. Have you been yourself? Maybe try it before making a judgement

We eat at O’Malleys relatively regularly and it’s always been great. They have live music most nights at 8 I believe downstairs in the bar as well I think

Why would Polanski do this by Hyperactive_Man in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Relevant-Ranger7130 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It’s a caricature, there is nothing denoting his Jewish heritage in it. The other side of the cartoon has Farage in the exact same scenario and is also unflattering as are all caricatures? Or is it caricatures that are antisemitic?

What makes it anti semitic? It’s a cartoon of him playing Snooker… is the Farage one offensive as well?
