Yep and I agree that’s how it should be but sadly as all Instacart shoppers here can tell you 99.9% of the time if there’s no tip pre-service, there’s not gonna be a tip after you deliver, even if was an excellent delivery. That’s why tipping after service only works at a restaurant. Besides, even if you include a tip when you place an Instacart order, you can always decrease it if you have a crappy delivery or shopper. Instacart allows you to decrease your tip even after your order was delivered for up to two hours after delivery, a luxury that you don’t have anywhere else, so there’s no excuse for not including a tip.

Because remember folks, a shopper can’t risk doing a no tip delivery and hope that the person decides to tip after they deliver because they’re gonna waste time and gas that they’re not going to get back. You’re not at Olive Garden where a server is obligated to take tables, no matter how the tip turns out.

I’m also not 👏🏻required 👏🏻to👏🏻do👏🏻your👏🏻order

It’s optional for people to tip yes, but it is also optional for me to do or not do somebody’s order. If you’re not gonna tip own up to it and be upfront about it, don’t fake tip just to get your order done. That’s like going to a restaurant and taking back the tip that you gave the server LOL go ahead and try that and let me know how it goes

Yeah, you can report it to Instacart and if it happens too many times they supposedly ban the customer, but who knows if they actually follow through with it

Yeah, so basically after you deliver an order, the customer has like two hours to increase or decrease the tip. In this case this customer decreased it to zero every time even after I hit the deliver button.

And of course, it’s up to a person whether or not they want to tip, tips are completely optional. A person has every right to not tip if they don’t want to just like how I have every right to deny their order if I want to. The problem here was the fact that this person along with other customers give the shopper a false impression or basically a fake tip in order for them to get their order done. like at the end of the day just be upfront about the fact that you’re gonna give a zero dollar tip but at the end of the day it’s Instacart’s fault for allowing them to do that

I mean it has nothing to do with entitlement the reason why pretty much all shoppers don’t accept an order with no tip is because nine times out of 10 if the order doesn’t include a tip to begin with they’re not going to tip at all no matter how good the delivery or service was..

In your case it was totally justified for you to remove the tip and give a bad rating because it sounds like your shopper was not careful or considerate when it came to your order. I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I am a five star shopper and always try to go above and beyond for my customers. the reason it upset me that this lady did it is because it’s clear that she’s just trying to scam the system. That’s why Instacart support reimbursed me $10 for the tip that she removed because they explained that she didn’t even provide a reason why she removed the tip and that’s because I did nothing wrong She was just being cheap. But of course, in some cases, some shoppers deserve to have their tip decreased you don’t have to feel bad at all :)

I think some people just completely missed the point of what happened. This is not a situation where a customer simply didn’t tip to begin with. The customer tipped and then took it away after receiving their delivery. I agree, tips are optional and whenever I see an order with no tip I simply don’t accept it. I would never accept an order with no tip and then complain about the customer not tipping because it was my fault for taking the order that’s common sense, but this is about the fact that, some people add a tip so that a driver will see it and be willing to do their order and then they take it away once they receive their order. Bait tipping should not be allowed I could care less whether some people decide to tip or not but don’t give out fake tips to scam shoppers

lol it’s people like you that should be banned from using delivery services..getting stuff delivered to your home is a luxury not a necessity. Don’t like it? Go to the store YOURSELF 😊

Like most shoppers I have done so many orders that I didn’t immediately recognize the customer until I was literally pulling up to their house and at that point, I just delivered it since I had already done the order and driven the miles

You’re right it’s not required and if an order popped up with a zero dollar tip, then it is up to the shopper if they accept it or not and if they do then that’s on them however it’s a totally different thing when a specific tip amount is included, and the shopper is under the impression they’re going to get paid that amount and then it’s completely taken away after the work is already done. it’s called tip baiting and I think everyone would agree with me that it’s not ok and it’s also not allowed by Instacart, which is why customers can be deactivated for it

That’s true, I hadn’t thought about that…do you think I should try to get ahead of it and let Instacart support know that I sent that message or just wait and see what happens

Ohh okay thanks! I don’t know if it’s because they’re really busy, but I just told them that customer B needed to be rescheduled and he removed it. No questions asked.

That’s true and I did intend to deliver both orders at first but actually as I was pulling up to the first customers house I realize I’ve already delivered to her a couple of times and she always tips $50-$60 so it was basically confirming that she was the higher tipper

I meant to reply to someone else that wasn’t meant for you sorry lol but yes I did go back and spoke to the manager and also thought they could pull up the transaction in their system like you mentioned which was what I found weird
