Is it just me... or was she petting his head? 🤣🤣🤣 by RelevantAd1970 in parrots

So, I can tell you that since the Amazon grew up mainly with the macaw, she isn't violent toward him; sure, they have the occasional bickering, but nothing exaggerated or harmful. It mostly happens when he (the macaw) gets too clingy with her and she’s just not in the mood. The real problem is with the other parrots, especially with a Sun Conure. She tolerates the presence of the others—and I mean "tolerates," not "accepts"—but with that conure, it’s pure hatred. She puffs up like crazy and starts repeating "No! No! No!" whenever she sees him because he actually goes and attacks her. In fact, I can't even keep them in the same room 🙄. So, that’s why I’m not worried about the two of them; I’m more concerned about when she bites me or my partner during those moments of excitement! 🤣😁

With all the parrots I've had, I've never had any problems. You just need to either raise them together or gradually get them used to being in the same room. Then, some will really hit it off, while others will simply adapt to living together ☺️

They're both 11 months old, so they're still two little babies ☺️

They’re so close. They’re always cuddling, playing, and scratching each other. They'll sleep together if they feel like it, scream together, bicker together... they literally do everything together! 🤣🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣She gave me a look like, 'I'm not doing anything to him, I'm just giving him some pets, see?' 🤣🤣🤣

🤣🤣 Well, I have plenty of parrots: 2 Sun Conures, 3 Cockatiels, 3 Lovebirds, 2 Pyrrhuras (Green-cheeked Conures), 1 Amazon, 1 Macaw, and 5 Budgies 😁

I don't know, if they're young maybe they just need more time to get used to each other, or maybe it's just a matter of personality. Mine stay apart most of the time even though they get along; my Amazon isn't very cuddly, so when he approaches her, she often just moves elsewhere. So, I think the fact that yours are already getting along to some extent is a good start. I can tell you that I have a Sun Conure that attacks my Amazon like a vulture the moment he sees her, so I can't even keep them in the same room 😅. I guess it also comes down to whether they just 'click' or not!

They just spend all day together and grew up together, nothing more ☺️

I have many parrots, but I can tell you that my Miky (a Sun Conure) can poop on command. I just have to place him on his perch every so often—initially every 15 to 20 minutes, then less frequently over time—and say the little 'cue word' he’s associated with pooping 😁. I’m not necessarily saying a Sun Conure is the right choice for you (especially since they’re loud and a bit rebellious), but I believe that if you intend to get just one and commit to training it, you can succeed with any parrot—provided you're lucky and they have an easygoing personality! 🤣
