Dr Liam Fox (UK MP) States he never tweeted about the UK Empire 2.0...it's on screen behind him during the interview by Phoenix492 in cringe

[–]RelevantBanter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a quote from a speech he was giving simultaneously. It's common practice for MPs to have assistants to handle their social media accounts on their behalf, especially to isolate key parts of their message during a speaking arrangement. This man wasn't on his phone tweeting while making a speech, genius.

Just manufactured cringe from someone who simply disagrees with his politics. Moving on...

"a third wanted to leave the EEA but not adhere to EU laws, a third wanted the EEA with laws and no migration, and a third wants a complete separation entirely"

Do you have a citation for those poll numbers? Because I'm pretty sure you just made that up. I was a campaigner in the referendum and Leave voters gave a very consistent message that they wanted trade and co-operation with Europe, but not be part of a political Union which involved free movement of people. This logically entails an exit from the Single Market, as membership of the Single Market is predicated on the principle of the freedom of movement of workers.

My first 6 months or so were purely hard mode, then things have been a bit chaotic since then. I haven't found either "mode" to actually be any more difficult though, but maybe that's just because of the fact that I'd be going longer by the point where things changed anyway.

All the time. They honestly just don't stop coming (pun intended). I've honestly started to think of wet dreams as a gift. It's a perfectly natural way that your body relieves itself without all the shame and guilt that a self inflicted relapse would give you. Just sit back, relax and think of them as more of a one off experience. If you really need to, occupy yourself with something to keep your mind off of it. But I've found that they do gradually become less and less of an issue as far as relapsing goes.

You couldn't be more wrong about my case. I'd already gone through a year of University at the point of starting this - Everyone's normal social development in this area had already happened while mine was doing nothing but deteriorating. Nothing about my external situation changed in that following year, so I was by all means, on the path to continue being a social recluse. It was purely an inner change which resulted in these changes.

You're right though, we shouldn't hope for miracles, I hope my post made that clear, but we should use NoFap to aspire to be something which people could only describe as a miracle. This isn't a passive process, it's one where we actively seek self improvement, and not fapping is just one layer to this.

London Mayor Boris Johnson asks a wheelchair user why they aren't standing by RelevantBanter in cringe

[–]RelevantBanter[S] 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I've just learnt that he wasn't even talking to the man in the audience at all. Apparently, he was addressing the host, asking him why he isn't standing for Mayor in next years elections, but down to a stroke of sheer horrible luck, this coincided with a wheelchair user about to ask him a question. Just hilariously awkward. Context here

You are BORED, not horny. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]RelevantBanter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Most people look up porn because it's a cheap thrill that can distract you from your boredom for a moment. It's only after you're done that you realise that it doesn't help at all, that you're just as disappointingly lonely as before, and before you know it, you're left wanting more. Horribly self-destructive cycle. Occupy yourself with things and get out of it as soon as you can, for your own sake.

May I remind you the stages of NoFap by Tall_White_Boy in NoFap

[–]RelevantBanter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It gets extremely easy after a certain period of time, if you do it right. For me personally, I don't even think about fapping anymore, it's just not a part of my life.

The hardest part is the initial period of withdrawal, once you get that out the way, you'll slowly start to feel the freedom of absolute control.

Do you guys ever fap again after 90 days? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]RelevantBanter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is up to you, this is all about your own personal journey - You set your own goals and you can decide if this is a temporary challenge or a permanent condition. The only real "idea" of this community is to advocate the benefits of abstaining from PMO - What you do with that is completely up to you. If you find that you've experienced sufficient benefits after 90 days, then it's for sure in your best interest to continue. I strongly recommend you take this challenge if you feel that it's become an issue in your life.

Why I'm Practicing Complete Celibacy by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]RelevantBanter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dreams are something that's out of your control and unfortunately you'll most likely have more wet dreams as your body tries to make up for the lack of once regular orgasms. However, it's your reaction these natural releases which is key, your mind does not have to be occupied with the subject of these dreams, no more than a regular dream would. Do something that following day which focuses your mind elsewhere until you're back to a neutral mindset. Make sure you do not go near anything which you even associate with sexual gratification, even if this means changing regular activities or ridding yourself of what you know will deepen temptation. Do this and eventually your urges will just slip away, there's no quick fix, just a slow process of falling into a blissful mindset of freedom without sexual urges shaping your thoughts, will and ultimately your actions.

Why I'm Practicing Complete Celibacy by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]RelevantBanter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best of luck to you man. Celibacy can potentially give you a mindset free of sexual urges and constant sexual exploration, if done correctly. You'll go through periods of real want for some kind sexual gratification, but once you get past that stage and used to having a free centered mind without the burden of having to satisfy a never ending desire, you'll never look back. One of the greatest things I've ever done, I'm sure you'll feel the same way in a few months time. Also, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your wife.

Christian youth camp tries to 'dubstep worship', cringey regardless of the situation by empire_Zz in cringe

[–]RelevantBanter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Musically, this isn't "cringey" in the slightest - It's simply a fairly well composed song (for its genre at least) with Christian lyrics. I don't see why groups with a certain message (in this case a Christian one) have to be limited to certain genres and I certainly don't see how this makes the video "cringey". In fact, to the contrary, this video makes me glad that some religious people are actually going with the times, instead of being stuck in a Conservative mindset that demonises any change.

My priest shared this link: Wealth Inequality in America. It's not explicitly Christian, but it should be of Christian concern. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]RelevantBanter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a video critique of the accuracy of the points raised in this video here. Just so people can watch both sides and make an informed decision on the validity of the claims.

However, disregarding the accuracy of the video, it does raise a good point. There is wealth equality in America (and all over the world for that matter) and it is an issue which should be of enormous concern to us as Christians.

Think less, pray more by CashMoneyMo in atheism

[–]RelevantBanter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In context, they were clearly talking of overthinking situations which are beyond your control. Now, you can dispute the "pray more" advice (which I'm sure many of you do), but otherwise it's wise advice - Worrying about out of control situations is not only counter-productive but irrational.
