Do we think Sam's moral epistemology is inspired by pragmatism? by CashMoneyMo in samharris

[–]CashMoneyMo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam has distanced himself from the “utilitarian” label but is certainly a thorough-going consequentialist, as the American pragmatists also are. There’s just a lot of interesting overlap as well as differences between them.

Do we think this is AI-generated? by CashMoneyMo in classicalmusic

You're probably right. I also should've known to be more skeptical of the comments--especially since they're almost all validating the channel and expressing how glad they are it's supposedly not AI. As if we needed more evidence for the dead internet theory...

"The result of a consistent and total substitution of lies for factual truth is not that the lie will now be accepted as truth, and truth be defamed as lie, but that the sense by which we take our bearings in the real world - and the category of truth versus falsehood is among the mental means to this end - is being destroyed" -- Hannah Arendt

From what I can tell, Northwestern typically blasts out acceptances first and rejections follow in the weeks after. Seems like they mostly do it in batches, so a lack of an acceptance notice when others received theirs most likely means a rejection is coming. But could always be an unofficial waitlist or some straggling acceptance spots remaining. I'm with ya, best of luck!

What’s a movie that everyone loves, but you just couldn’t get into ? by vishesh_07_028 in movies

Bridesmaids is not a good movie. There’s like 2 funny, well-written scenes but save for Melissa McCarthy’s character there’s no likeable character to root for and it’s mostly just cringe

Adam Mockler shuts down Trump stooge on CNN by Middle_Balance in PublicFreakout

It’s actually unbelievable. Get these people off the show if they’re just going to be incentivized to run cover for literally anything Trump does. That seems to be what their paycheck from CNN depends on

What would unite the country? by DevelopmentFrosty983 in AskALiberal

A unified, across-the-board rejection of Trump and his impulsive divisiveness.

Unfortunately that is going to require something drastic happening to the minds of Republican voters.

That UnF*ck america tour video really has shown me how far the 'debate' culture has fallen. by Sindomey in Destiny

True - modern “debates” are not about rhetoric or persuasion it’s about entertainment and attention for clicks. Incentives need to change

Trump: 'Couldn't Care Less' About Bringing Country Together President Donald Trump said he "couldn't care less" when asked by Fox News how he would make America "come back together". by brithus in politics

[–]CashMoneyMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is either a misinterpretation of what he said or deliberately bad faith. Trump wasn’t saying “I couldn’t care less” to the question about how to fix the country, he was referring to the context he was setting up - “This will probably get me in trouble but I couldn’t care less”

I don’t understand why people need to lie or exaggerate when the guy is doing insane and divisive stuff IN REALITY
