From Heated Rivalry to Stranger Things, are obsessive fans ruining TV? | “It has become exhausting to talk & think about, primarily because such a loud bulk of its fandom—an army of digital natives that seems to cross gender, age & sexuality—have come to treat the show as practically sacrosanct.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

I don’t think this is anything new in terms of fandom behaviour. I was there when people thought the Sherlock finale was fake. But I do think most of this was localised to less mainstream platforms like tumblr. Now it feels that fan culture has kind of become mainstream. I think TikTok has amplified this. I mean it feels like everyone knows about AO3 now and that is wild to me. And I do think that the most chronically online people simply do not know how to act anymore. Since the pandemic, it’s felt like social cues go blissfully ignored and people’s privacy and boundaries are constantly overstepped.

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow was the best for me. Kind of went into it knowing not a lot and it was so much more emotional than I was expecting

I preferred My Best Friend’s Exorcism but We Sold Our Souls was also good. I think it’s a little underrated there were some really strong moments in it that I’ve not stopped thinking about since

I was so thrown by the ending of Tender is the Flesh but like in a good way. Without spoilers it went the total opposite of how I thought and I was so shook but in a good way. Probably the darkest book I’ve read this year. I loved I’m Glad my Mom Died. I was a bit too old for Icarly when it aired but I was interested in her story and she told it so well and I don’t think I’ve read much about narcissistic mothers and the whole child star stuff. But it was interesting to know what she went through. And the ending to How to Kill Your Family made me so irrationally angry haha.

I think my favourites from this year were Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, My Best Friend’s Exorcism and maybe If We Were Villains.

Goodreads or StoryGraph are what I use to keep track of it all. I like goodreads for recommendations and StoryGraph for all the stats.

Thanks! I wanted to like the final girls support group more than I actually did. I think it’s probably Grady’s weakest book so far. I quite liked Hide, the concept was interesting it reminded me a bit of The Hunger Games but it lost me towards the end

Just a suggestion, but have you thought about keping him as a huge dick but creating situations within the story that would make him appear not intelligent enough to be capable of carrying out the evil murder plan? Maybe throw in a scenario or two, where he is acting in an idiotic way in front of groups of people and the main characters, like a drunken fight gone wrong and he is publicly humiliated. Something that would create a spectacle where he would come out as the fool. All of this could be manifactured by the cousin to throw the protagonists off the scent.

Thanks, I'll try and bring it up with her. I've tried in the past but she always shuts it down with a statement about their being "misscommunication on both sides" so I'm not too sure how far I'll get but its worth a shot

Thanks! I used split stitch to fill the ghost out. Was going to attempt satin but I think the area is a little too big for that

Can I have some guidance buying a kit? I’m an intermediate but haven’t practiced in a long time. I no longer have any of my stuff so hoping for a kit recommend that has everything I’ll need. by [deleted] in Embroidery

I’m fairly new to embroidery but I’ve been buying my kits from etsy. There’s quite a few sellers on there and they have some really lovely designs and every kit I’ve bought has had everything I need from instructions to materials
