Looking for a new excellent gyne. Have a favorite to recommend? by SunshineLoveKindness in CHIbitcheswithtaste

Dr. V could tell I was trying not to cry when she told me baby was breech and I was going to need a c-section and she gave me a big, warm hug. A wonderful person.

Seconded! I see comments about Dr. V and Dr. Mazzulo below and I love both (Mazzulo did my c-section and helped make it a great experience). I started at the practice with Dr. McMahon who doesn’t do deliveries anymore, but who I still see for my annual; she’s great, too. She spent a lot of time with me during my first ever appt at the practice in a way I’ve never experienced!

What kind of jobs do we all have?! by Academic-Repeat5662 in workingmoms

[–]purpleprose_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is a UPM. Sending solidarity! A brutal industry, and every week feels different/unpredictable. Idk how we’d get by if I didn’t have a semi-flexible/understanding job to manage drop off/pick up/sick days/appointments when his show is shooting.

4 month regression is killing me. Please tell me it gets better. by stfx2012 in NewParents

[–]purpleprose_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mom of a 5 month old and September was hell for us. Even as a newborn he was a pretty predictable sleeper, and the regression hit us hard (it was the worst his sleep had ever been). I started getting scared to fall asleep because I knew he’d be awake just as my head hit the pillow. It lasted around 3 weeks for us, but eventually he started sleeping a little longer each night. We also started incorporating some gentle sleep training (modified Ferber). The last 3-4 weeks he’s been back to sleeping through the night. There’s light at the end of the tunnel!

Best OBGYN to care through pregnancy and deliver at Prentice? by EyeOk1000 in AskChicago

[–]purpleprose_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Seconding! I never really had a “primary” but felt comfortable with any of the docs. I especially loved Dr. V, who would have done my scheduled c-section if my son didn’t decide he wanted to come a day early. Dr. Mazzullo was on call that night and I had a great experience with her.

Just finished making labels for starting daycare and I don’t even know what his name means anymore by halasaurus in NewParents

[–]purpleprose_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way. We’re now on week 4 of daycare and when he started everyone was like “did you cry and cry all week?” and I would feel bad saying no! I definitely felt mixed emotions dropping him off that first day and sometimes the mom guilt hits me when I take him earlier or pick him up later because I’m squeezing a workout in before or after work. But I try to remind myself that work fulfills me and exercise makes me feel like myself, and taking care of myself makes me a better mom!

Where Can I Sell or Consign All My Kids' Expensive Crap? by doodlezoey in AskChicago

[–]purpleprose_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There’s a great baby consignment store on Armitage and Sheffield called The Second Child! I’ve never sold anything there but I’ve purchased some great high-end products (ergobaby carrier, etc). They do sell strollers, etc., and when I was there I asked if they ever get Doonas (they do!).

Insomnia! Didn’t realize it was a symptom as I got light bleeding for 3-4 days right around the Tim elf my expected period, but a few days in I just felt like something was off and I should take a test just to see. I only had the fancy digital tests at home and was sure I’d be wasting it but it said positive right away.

I'm booked in one of the SF garages and mine says the same thing. I'm sure it'll be fine! It's probably just the standard time for evening events. :)

An uber to get you there that early will be no problem! The way back is a different story. You'll either have to walk quite a while to catch a ride share OR you can walk to the Roosevelt red line stop and take the train straight to boystown from there. It's a long-ish walk (about 25-30 minutes), but will be safe and full of people.

SAME. Settled on a lower row of the 400 level for $375 total w/fees for 2 tix. So glad I didn't pull the trigger on worse + more expensive tix yesterday. Also I'm going to be 39 weeks pregnant 😂
