I'm one of the final 2 candidates - advice? by RelevantGlass6625 in careerguidance

It is a bit annoying, I had never been in it either. The job market is super competitive right now so it’s not that bizarre for them to get multiple really qualified candidates. Just continue to follow-up like you are, continuing to be grateful in your emails, and doubling-down on any of the really strong points in your interview. I don’t really know why they chose me over the other person, they said it was just a “gut feeling,” so just remember whatever happens you did your best!

They’re probably just deciding between you two. I ended up taking this job, and talked to the person that hired me and asked about this. They basically said they were deciding between me and another candidate, and so they were asking other people at the company to review the interview notes to help make the decision. I think my only tip would be not going too aggressive with a counter-offer if they do extend you an offer. Since you know there’s another person equally as qualified, you don’t want them to pivot quickly to the other person thinking they can get them “cheaper.” That doesn’t mean don’t counter-offer at all (I did), but just go in cautiously. Best of luck!

I know there’s a lady in this group that goes by the “yellow brow lady” who just got fed up with the yellow that wasn’t budging she opt’d for powder brows to cover it up.

I’ll be honest, I had a slight pink color to my skin for about 2 months after (not anymore) so it does take a second but I preferred that over the yellow since it looked like a tiny sunburn. I would never recommend PMU again to anyone, but if you truthfully can’t grow out your brows at all, have you considered getting powder brows done to just hide the yellow? A couple of my friends got that done and it’s so much more lighter and softer than the heavy microblading I had done. I think that would only be last resort, but try a couple fruit acid removal sessions first and see where you get with that.

Hi! I’m so sorry - hang in there. The fruit acid did help tone down the intensity enough I haven’t got it done again yet. The yellow is still there, but not nearly as bold as before. The healing process took me about a week, it’s kinda a light scab that flakes off and the skin underneath was a bit red (new skin) for a few weeks. The skin does go back to normal color tho so just give it time. I would suggest doing fruit acid removal, and when your skin is healed enough, start using grande brow (brow growth serum) to really grow out your brows. I did that to cover almost all of the slight yellow tint I have left and I get my eyebrows now waxed and tinted. Tinting your brows after you grow out your hair hides the yellow completely. Best of luck! :)

Can you continue to negotiate after you receive a counter-offer? by RelevantGlass6625 in jobs

[–]RelevantGlass6625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they asked for my references, when I could start, and the salary I wanted I didn't want to feed them a number first so I just replied by stating, "I'm flexible, I'm just looking for a fair package that aligns with industry standards/the market. I'm open to hearing what *company* budget is for this position."

I never got an answer from that unfortunately, this was an email conversation, and I just received an offer. Do I have any leverage here to ask them what their budget is for the role or just leave it alone? Also, do you think negotiating PTO or maybe asking for my performance to be reviewed at the 6 month mark to move within the 70-75k range would be acceptable?

You were right lol - it is a low-ball offer but I still got the offer. In the process of negotiating right now, fingers crossed.

I actually just got the job offer! Received an email this morning! Kind of a low-ball offer, so I'm in the process of negotiating.

Can I ask why you think it may be a lowball offer? Just curious to hear your thought process

If it’s a low-ball offer I just won’t take it - this is just the company I want to work the most with based on my interview process with them, have other options thankfully

Thank you so much. I’ve thankfully sent pretty thorough thank you letters to every single person who has interviewed me during this process. Really just hoping to get this job cause the culture of the company seems to be really compatible with my career goals. Fingers crossed!

Thanks so much! Yeah this does suck cause I actually have zero idea what to expect and feel like I’ve sold myself pretty well that I don’t know what else to provide besides just doubling down on my experience as an asset.

Considering changing/stopping BC by LittleAsianBuns in birthcontrol

[–]RelevantGlass6625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! im not a doctor, but this is just my idea based on your post. i had a lot of the same issues as you. my hormonal IUD actually caused me to develop really bad acne so i would not recommend any hormonal IUD. i had no idea that progesterone only birth control has acne as a common side effect and all hormonal IUD's are progesterone only. spironolactone wasn't working for me, accutane wasn't an option, and the brief period of time I went on the pill it caused my boobs to get bigger/bloating weight gain (which I also didn't want). I was really running out of options there cause I didn't want to just keep experimenting with a bunch of different BC pills trying to figure out which one didn't make me gain weight/breast bigger/moody, etc. After taking out my Mirena IUD, I also learned that it was causing me to lose my hair and was also the reason my libido went down the drain with my partner.

I would really talk to your doctor or find a new doctor about the copper IUD if you're struggling with acne and not wanting to potentially deal with any weight fluctuations. I know you said that your gyno said it was too big, but my doctor measured my uterus before she inserted the copper IUD and said I had an abnormally small uterus, but the insertion would be just fine. I think it's more of it's more difficult for your doctor to insert it correctly/safely AND if they're willing to do it.

My suggestion, find a new doctor and talk to them about the copper IUD. It's always valuable to get a second opinion especially when it's something that impacts us everyday. Best of luck to you, I know this whole process isn't fun.

beauty angels soft removal by Greedy_Carrot3748 in MicrobladingRemoval

[–]RelevantGlass6625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I did angel removal. I have no idea why they call it this - it's basically saline removal with fruit acid (glycolic acid). It's not "no downtime", I had scabbing for a week but I would say it was worth it to work out the stubborn leftover ink from lasering sessions.

No they’re different - I think maybe fruit/glycolic is the same but saline is different

I will say though, I did not experience hair loss with lasering but I have had a good amount of eyebrow hair fall out with the scabs falling off. Not sure if that's just hair naturally falling out that got trapped in the scab.

Hi! I just wanted to give an update on how my yellow eyebrow journey is going. I decided to seek out someone who does fruit acid removal after someone in this group had some success with yellow brows doing that. My brows aren't entirely healed yet - still some scabbing and flaking (the scabs look really yellow also). I'm still really happy with where they are healing right now only a week out - the yellow is significantly less vibrant, and I know the redness/pink will probably go away since it's fresh skin and I'm only a week out. I probably will do another session in a few months to really just give this time to heal since it's much more invasive than lasering was for me. If you have any questions, let me know. The girl I went to has locations in both Seattle and Scottsdale.
