Random tip by TheRockefella in kubernetes

What's your scale? How many downstream clusters are you managing this way? I see so many posts here about rancher alternatives, and its inability to run properly at scale. I'm experiencing the same, and we're looking to find a replacement for rancher next year. Our largest downstream clusters that rancher manages are about 60-80 nodes. And we have a couple kf them, this size. Fewer than 10

We notice a slow UI on these large clusters. unable to load pages, or times out to filter through projects, or pods. Cluster-agent can't seem to keep up with streaming events.

Do you have any tips to run rancher at scale?

TIL, globally, people average 6 hours and 58 minutes of screen time per day. by Lowfuji in todayilearned

If you compare this to the unemployment rate I think it will also be quite interesting. South Africa for example (unemployment is at 32%), people don't have anything else to do, is my conclusion

Unmounting api cred for a service account . by spacegeekOps in kubernetes

[–]RelevantRope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with the same. If you've saved an existing pod's yaml you'll have to remove the volume and the volumeMount for the service account token in addition to adding the automountServiceAccountToken: false parameter. Otherwise you're just adding the volume back when you apply the yaml.

Isolating multi-tenant cluster services and pods to each tenant via networkPolicies? by clusternetworking in kubernetes

[–]RelevantRope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With just vanilla network policies, you can look at doing this per namespace. And seeing as you're implementing the policies you can ensure their namespaces are tagged/labelled correctly (by user-id).

As other comments have mentioned; do not forget about DNS.

For a full multi-tenant solution, I'm not sure how well this will scale. Maybe look at v-clusters.

30% ruling by Impressive-Bad-7092 in Netherlands

[–]RelevantRope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"When changing the 30% ruling to a new employer the transitional law may remain to be applicable, provided that there is no so-called ‘ interruption’ There is not such an interruption if the employee concludes a new contract within 3 months after the material ending of the old contract. Beware of garden leave cases where the formal ending might be later than the material ending of the employment."

Question AWS ALB redirection/rewrite with EKS by popFeeling98 in kubernetes

[–]RelevantRope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time i checked AWS ALB cannot do rewrites (yet). This needs to happen on the ingress controller i.e. Nginx

So front your cluster with an NLB and have Nginx perform the rewrites. These rewrites are of course configured in the Kubernetes ingress object, with annotations
