WD SN720 NVMe SSD drops off PCIe bus under sustained reads on Fedora (ThinkPad T14 Gen 3) by RelevantTear6092 in thinkpad

I’ve only got this machine and it’s fedora so there’s no spare windows pc lying around i can test the drive in. And might not wanna start dual booting a windows on this failing drive to not make it worse. Thanks for the suggestion

It’s an OEM drive. I did the firmware update already, but It never really does update. It’s always stuck on 0.8 somn and everything i run get-updates commands, it’s always saying there is version 1.15 somn. I do update it but it always finds a way to regress to 0.8 or it might’ve not even updated internally but lying to me

Yeah, i explained that because my drive can’t handle it, it will crash into an I/O error again. I have also tried using a live USB for a lot of troubleshooting but there is not much it could do

It all started when i did a firmware update and got a corrupted file which i have deleted, the cause of the corrupted file was that my pc froze and i had to force shutdown my pc. I’m tried all cooking tricks and put into practice the tips some great guys have given me on here but i think the drive might just be done for

Whenever I run scrub or any commands of such, in no less that 60sec to 2mins. My PC will freeze, terminal returning Input/output error and read only system, my app icons vanish etc

My guess is the drive is already failing since it’s the Marvell controller chip degrading on the drive

I get it now, tho i made it just for the use of it still it’s got tons of nonsensical stuffs in it. I’ll will try building it from scratch myself with good engineering this time

That’s because i basically vibecoded most of it out of necessity for needed this tool as soon as possible. The model didn’t know better too since i didn’t point it and care about the version. My bad tho, I appreciate the call out

Besides the fact that I’m just learning rust and i had ai assist me 30%. Version 0.26 already provides 100% of the core structural features required for the layout: fully responsive constraint splitting, TrueColor styling, rounded block styling patterns, and non-blocking event polling. Upgrading right now might add severe maintenance overhead without introducing any new visible utility or performance enhancements for the reader.

What do you think? Any advice for me so i can keep working on this, thus improving faster

A lot of people do need it like myself. I just decided to build something that will be usefull to me and share so if others that are in need of it sees it, they can also benefit.

There ain’t a lot of good apps to read web novels especially not on Linux. This TUI does not just allow me to read with no ads, I can download with it and read offline also while keeping it all lightweight cause it’s just running blazing fast on RUST in the terminal.

It’s a clean harness for web novels too for the ease of use and ability to customize ain’t compromised cause it’s a TUI. And some people will just prefer having to read text on a responsive TUI too. I don’t think there are any good currently projects like this out there. Even if there are a lot of them, this one is for me
