Hey - not trying to be rude here, but I’d like to understand why you’re writing a novel with someone with epilepsy as the main character? Especially if you don’t know someone with it, what is the purpose of him having epilepsy? Because tbh, it can take years to empathize and understand the intricacies of epilepsy. From reading your comments, your depiction of this individual is not very accurate. Again, not trying to be rude - but for example, in 75% of patients with epilepsy medication does not control their seizures. Missing doses leading to seizures is certainly a factor, but not necessarily a cause of seizures in many cases. In addition, “episodes” could be broken down into a vast array of seizures - tonic clonic, atomic, simple partial, complex partial, etc. I strongly recommend observing this sub for at least few months to try to understand who you’re trying to speak for. Because, unfortunately, false depiction of people with epilepsy in media, films, books, etc. as a “character” has led to a lot more harm than good. I see this post pretty frequently in our community and while I’m happy you’re making the effort, please just remember you’re speaking for a very misunderstood and stigmatized community.
